| In the information society, traditional mass media such as newspapers, radio and television,as well as emerging media such as smart phones and social platforms, jointly construct the information environment for left-behind children to learn about the city. This study explores the influence of media use on the cognition of city image of rural left-behind children. This study focused on the left-behind children in Xiongjia Village,Tongnan District,Chongqing City, and tried to explore the connection between media use and the cognition of city image of left-behind children in rural areas from the perspective of Communication Science through field investigation methods such as participatory observation,in-depth interview and questionnaire survey. The results show that among all kinds of media that left-behind children can access, mobile phones and television are favored by left-behind children.Among them, mobile phone is the most widely used media, followed by TV media. The use of mobile phones and TV has a significant impact on the city image cognition of left-behind children. On the one hand, when parents go out to work and left-behind children lack the companionship of their relatives, mobile phones and televisions play the role of "chaperones".Left-behind children have serious psychological dependence on television and mobile phones, and some even have serious symptoms of "TV addiction" and "mobile phone addiction".On the other hand,in the remote rural areas, television and mobile phones have opened the door for left-behind children in the village to peep into the city society that is completely different from where they live, and helped them to understand all aspects of city society more deeply and systematically. In addition, the study found that by receiving the city information presented by TV and mobile phones,left-behind children in rural areas perceived the "imagined city" as either good or bad, which is a contradictory unity that they both yearn for and fear.It is worth noting that, under the background of TV,mobile phone, interpersonal communication and their own short personal experience, most of the left-behind children hold a serious critical and negative attitude towards "city residents" and "city environment",believing that "city residents" are indifferent, selfish and the "city environment" is seriously polluted. In particular, under the background of TV,mobile phone, interpersonal communication and their own short personal experience, most of the left-behind children hold a serious critical and negative attitude towards "city residents" and "city environment",believing that "city residents" are indifferent, selfish and the "city environment" is seriously polluted.Born and raised in the countryside,left-behind children have a strong sense of identity as "rural people".But even so,in the current situation of the huge gap between urban and rural areas in China, attracted by material civilization,left-behind children still have a "city dream",eager to enter the city and become a "city dweller".The full text of this research is divided into six parts: The first part is the introduction, which introduces the content, reason, purpose, significance, research method and innovation of this research, and reviews the existing domestic and foreign related studies; The second part mainly describes the basic situation of Xiongjia Village, where the field survey is located, and the basic characteristics of the respondents, and makes a detailed and in-depth exploration of the media environment and specific media usage of the left-behind children in Xiongjia Village; The third part is mainly based on the media use of the left-behind children in Xiongjia Village, and analyzes the "simulated city" on TV and mobile phone media from three aspects of "city people","city environment" and "social activities in the city";The fourth part uses questionnaire data and empirical materials to explore how the "mimic city" presented by the media constructs the image recognition of left-behind children in real life. The fifth part mainly discusses the problems such as the identity of the left-behind children and the psychological and cultural barriers to their integration into the city in the process of pursuing the "city dream" after the cognitive construction of the city image; The last part is the research conclusion and reflection.Summarizing the conclusions of this study, and puts forward the problems of media addiction(" mobile phone addiction ","TV addiction")and "cognitive dissonance" of city image of rural left-behind children found in the research process, and gives Suggestions. Finally,it reflects on the shortcomings of this study and puts forward the following research arrangement. |
