In recent years,the field,channel,scale and influence of China's external communication have been developed by leaps and bounds,but there is still a gap between China's international level and China's actual needs in terms of communication concept,communication mode,discourse and technical support.The micro-video program "three minutes in China" of China.org.cn is popular with foreign audiences in the process of external communication.It is of theoretical significance and practical value to explore its successful experience.In this paper,the China 3 minutes short video show visual rhetoric analysis,from the visual turn,visual representations,visual rhetoric,visual persuasion,etc,analysis of the "three minutes in China" show production background,narrative and successful experience,to explore the use of visual symbols in the process of text production and visual narrative strategy,related to the final in the audience reception at home and abroad as well as the interaction to construct national image,create a cross-cultural and reduce the advantage of "cultural discount",explore the countermeasures of short video to participate in cultural transmission.It is found that "3 minutes in China" is not only a simple presentation of visual symbols,but also a way to shape the national image of China,tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese culture with the help of visual grammar,visual narrative and visual rhetoric.And this experience is instructive for other short videos to participate in external communication.
