Exercises are helpful for students to consolidate and expand their knowledge and train their thinking ability.They are an important medium for cultivating the core literacy of mathematics.The writing of exercises reflects the writing characteristics and value orientation of textbooks to a certain extent.By comparing the exercises of RJ edition and the DM edition of the textbooks,it is of great significance for the compilation of textbooks and teachers' teaching in our country to analyze the advantages and characteristics of the exercises of two edition of the textbooks.The research constructs a comparative framework from the five dimensions of the number,type,openness,comprehensive difficulty and core literacy of mathematics subject.Based on the three fields of number and algebra,graphics and geometry,statistics and probability,it carries out a comparative study of exercises in the junior middle school mathematics textbooks of “RJ edition” in China and “DM edition”in Singapore.The research questions are determined as follows:(1)What are the requirements for problem sets in the mathematics curriculum standards(syllabuses)of the two countries?(2)What are the differences between the two editions in the number,type,openness,comprehensive difficulty and core literacy of mathematics subject?(3)What are the characteristics of the two editions of textbook exercises?(4)What are the effects of solving these problems on the compilation of mathematical textbook exercises?Based on the above research questions,Firstly,research integration method is adopted to sort out the literature and construct the framework of exercise comparison.Secondly,the content analysis method is used to encode the exercises.Using statistical analysis to perform descriptive statistics on coded data,and SPSS20.0 was used to conduct difference test on coded data.Finally,the interview method is used to interview teachers in view of the present situation of problematic teaching.Through the analysis of the coding data and the interview results of teachers,The results show that:(1)the two versions of exercises have their own characteristics in design concept and core literacy of mathematics discipline;(2)There are significant differences in quantity and column.The number of problem sets in DM edition is much higher than that in RJ edition;(3)There is little difference in type,openness and difficulty,and the answers are mainly closed.Based on the above research conclusions,the following suggestions are put forward for textbook exercises compilation and teachers' teaching:(1)Promote the diversification of exercise background,expand the openness of exercise;(2)Reasonable balance exercise literacy,promote the overall development of literacy;(3)Design homework reflection records to cultivate students' higher-order thinking;(4)Enhance the ability of exercise interpretation,improve the quality of exercise teaching;(5)The preparation of bracket model exercises,effective link double-reduction policy.
