Science classroom is the main channel to cultivate students' scientific literacy.Textbooks are the main materials used in teaching.The quality of textbooks will greatly affect students' learning effect and teachers' teaching effect.In order to further explore the science textbooks that are really suitable for primary school students,literature analysis,comparative analysis and content analysis are adopted to select the representative textbooks in China and the United States.From the aspects of curriculum standard requirements,textbook content arrangement,textbook content difficulty and textbook content presentation,this paper makes a comparative study of some contents of "material science" in grade 3-4 of Science textbooks between China and the United States.The findings are as follows: 1.In terms of the comparison of curriculum standards,the division of "material science" in the curriculum standards of the two countries is basically the same;The content and learning objectives of each part of the Chinese science curriculum standard are more detailed.The setting of curriculum standards in both countries takes students as the main body,but the two countries have different emphases on curriculum standards.2.In terms of content arrangement: on the whole,both countries have their own advantages in the content arrangement of textbooks;From the aspect of column setting,the textbook of SCIENCE FUSION is more systematic.3.In terms of course content difficulty comparison,SCIENCE FUSION textbook is more difficult than SCIENCE textbook.4.In terms of content presentation: The text presentation of SCIENCE FUSION is more suitable for middle school students;SCIENCE FUSION pays more attention to quoting images of scientists when selecting illustrations;The experimental inquiry activities in SCIENCE FUSION are more complete.Combined with the findings of the study,the following suggestions are made for textbook compilation: 1.Enrich the column setting of textbooks to improve students' learning efficiency;2.Contact with existing knowledge and experience to meet the requirements of students from different areas;3.Choose textbook illustrations reasonably and pay attention to the image presentation of scientists.Teachers' teaching suggestions are as follows: 1.Pay attention to scientific experimental activities and promote the development of scientific thinking;2.Science and culture into the classroom,feeling the charm of traditional Chinese culture;3.Implement the ideological and political concept of the curriculum and enhance the moral education value of the curriculum.The research results,on the one hand,can provide theoretical supplement for the comparative study of Chinese and foreign science textbooks;On the other hand,it will provide help for the compilation and reform of primary school science textbooks and the teachers of primary school science to better carry out teaching activities.
