The primary school science textbook is an important carrier of the implementation of the primary school science curriculum standards and an important tool to improve the students' scientific literacy,so its compilation is particularly important.The 2017 Standards for Science Curriculum in Primary Schools for Compulsory Education takes science in primary schools as a basic curriculum,offering science lessons from the first grade.How to compile high quality primary school science textbooks that not only meet the requirements of science curriculum standards but also facilitate teaching and learning is very important to learn and use for reference the high level of foreign experience in the compilation of primary school science textbooks.American science education has always been in the leading position in the world.Therefore,the comparative analysis of American primary school science textbooks and Chinese primary school science textbooks to comb out their respective characteristics,advantages and disadvantages is of certain reference value for the further improvement of Chinese primary school science textbooks.By teaching the Chinese.The surface structure and deep structure of elementary Science textbooks(Hubei edition)and American Science Fusion edition(G1-G3)were compared and analyzed.The study reached the following conclusions:1.in terms of writing style and presentation materials,two version of the elementary school science teaching material to the structure of the unit,content arrangement is a spiral upward trend,accords with the cognitive development law of students,the teaching material content includes life science,material science,earth and space science three areas,there is a difference in the field of.In the way of presentation,people teach.The column design of elementary school Science textbooks in Hubei Education Edition is a little monotonous,while the column design of Science Fusion Primary School Science textbooks is rich,emphasizing the connection between various subjects.2.In terms of the difficulty of course content,according to the calculation of the difficulty model,it is found that the difficulty of course content in the field of life Science,material Science,nature of Science and STEM in the Science Fusion version of primary school Science textbooks is higher than that taught by people.The curriculum in the field of earth and space is less difficult than that taught by people.Hubei Education Edition Primary School Science Textbook.3.In terms of the content and elements of scientific inquiry,the two editions of primary school Science textbooks both emphasize inquisy-based learning and students' subjectivity,but Science Fusion has a more complete process of inquiry and cultivates students to think like scientists.4.In terms of STEM content elements,there is a huge difference in the number of STEM content elements in the Chinese and American primary school science textbooks,but they both cover science,technology,engineering and mathematics,and the difference lies in teaching by people.The Hubei Elementary Science Textbook focuses more on the field of technical knowledge than the Science Fusion Primary Science Textbook,and the Science Fusion Primary Science Textbook is more people-taught.The Hubei Education Edition of primary school science textbooks pay more attention to the field of mathematics knowledge.5.In terms of STSE content elements,there is no special STSE content in the two editions of primary school Science textbooks,and the STSE content is scattered in scientific inquiry activities.Science Fusion version of primary school Science textbooks is better than human teaching.The Hubei education edition of primary school science textbooks highlights STSE education more,and the number of knowledge points is more.Finally,through the comparison and analysis of the above two versions of Chinese and American primary school science textbooks,four suggestions are put forward for the compilation and revision of primary school science textbooks in China.First,pay attention to the investigation of "pre-concept" to fully understand the learning situation of students;Second,enrich column design,strengthen the connection of knowledge of various disciplines;Third,strengthen scientific inquiry learning and cultivate students' scientific literacy;Fourthly,expand the range of STEM knowledge points and broaden students' horizons.
