Expository text is unique as a literary style in that it tries to promote information,explain things objectively,and have a strong scientific nature,while also rich in humanistic spirit.Therefore,the study of expository texts is conductive to developing students' thinking mode of mutual penetration and integration of humanistic spirit and scientific spirit.The unified junior high school textbook fully recognizes the value of explanatory texts,and thus a series of representative texts have been selected to provide a reliable basis for teaching.However,in practice,there are still a series of problems in teaching explanatory texts.The analysis of the specific manifestations and causes of these problems will help to change the status quo of instructional texts.The specific ideas of the thesis are as follows.The first chapter focuses on the justification of the thesis on the basis of topic selection,research ideas and methods,and the current status of the study,reflecting the value and objectives of its research.Chapter 2 analyzes the characteristics of the selection and arrangement of junior high school explanatory texts in the unified textbook,confirms the arrangement of textbook selection from two aspects: emphasizing the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability and improving comprehensive quality,and exploring the basis of teaching materials for explanatory texts.Chapter 3 is the analysis of the current situation of teaching and studying.The questionnaire was completed by teachers and students in junior high school,the current problems of teaching middle school expository essays and attributed them to teachers,students,and exam-oriented education.Chapter 4 proposes teaching suggestions based on the basic features of STEAM education theory and emphasizes the importance of expository texts to cultivate students' integration of science and humanities and promote their development of a multidisciplinary way of thinking.Finally,the teaching design of the text “The Return of the Geese” is used to demonstrate the feasibility of practical teaching based on STEAM education theory.The concluding section summarizes the results and implications of the paper and points out its shortcomings of the paper.
