Practice Research On ADI Model To Cultivate Student’s Critical Thinking In Senior High School Biology Teaching

The current science education believes that the combination of argument activities and science education is helpful to cultivate students’ scientific thinking and scientific inquiry of core literacy.As an argument-driven inquiry teaching model,ADI model aims to let students experience a series of thinking collisions,such as finding problems,evaluating materials,analyzing problems,putting forward opinions,looking for evidence,demonstrating,questioning and refuting,writing research reports,reflecting and discussing,students’ expression ability can be trained,which develop students’ critical thinking(CT).This study systematically understanded the research status of ADI model and CT at home and abroad through literature research.The contents of the 2019 people’s education edition high school biology compulsory 1 were sorted out which were suitable for ADI model teaching,and biology teachers were interviewed in the internship school to understand their understanding of argument teaching and ADI model,and their willingness to implement ADI model teaching.The current situation of critical thinking was investigated in the senior one of the internship schools,and 123 students in two classes were selected as the research object.Three teaching cases were sorted out by using ADI model.After each implementation of ADI model,the CT disposition and skills were tested,and the changes of students’ CT before and after the experiment,and the influence of ADI model teaching on the formation of CT were compared.The interview results showed that biology teachers in the school were familiar with argumentation teaching and CT,but not familiar or even unfamiliar with ADI model teaching.Teachers with many years of experience were willing to cultivate students’ CT through ADI model teaching after understanding ADI model.Through the investigation of the current situation,it suggested that the CT disposition and skills of the senior one in the school were at the lower-middle level.The following results were obtained after the experiment:(1)Compared with the pre-test,the p values of students’ overall CT disposition and skills in the mid-test were 0.072 and 0.122 respectively,indicating that students’ CT had improved,but not significantly.The average value of each dimension of CT disposition was higher than the average value of the pretest,especially the knowledge dimension,which difference with the pre-test thirst for knowledge was 6.09 points,and the p values corresponding of Truth-Seeking,Open-Mindedness,Analyticity,Systematicity,Selfconfidence,Inquisitiveness and Maturity of CT were <0.001,0.003,<0.001,0.038,0.047,<0.001 and <0.001 respectively,which were significant difference.The average value of each dimension of CT skills was higher than that of the pre-test,and the p values of analysis skills,inference skills and evaluation skills were 0.096,0.088 and 0.334 respectively,which were not significant.(2)Compared with the pre-test,the p values of students’ overall CT disposition and skills of post-test were 0.012 and 0.021 respectively,indicating that students’ CT had been significantly improved after the implementation of ADI model teaching.The average value of each dimension of CT tendency was higher than the average value of the pre-test,especially the thirst for knowledge and analytical ability.The difference was 9.03 points and6.29 points respectively,each dimension showed extremely significant difference(p ≤ 0.001).The average value of each dimension of CT skills was higher than that of the pre-test,and each dimension was increased by more than 0.5 points.The p values of 0.016,0.028 and0.035 respectively,corresponding to the three dimensions were also significant.Based on the above results,conclusions are presented as follows: ADI model teaching can improve students’ learning habits,strengthen the sense of teamwork and stimulate the sense of responsibility;ADI model is helpful to develop students’ scientific thinking;ADI model can cultivate students’ ability of argumentation and refutation;ADI model can exercise students’ language expression ability and enhance self-confidence.In order to improve the conclusions of this study and promote the follow-up research,this study puts forward the following teaching suggestions:(1)Pay attention to the application of ADI model in theory teaching and cultivate students’ CT;(2)Choose preview materials that fit the reality of life and carry out teaching based on real problem situations;(3)Try to carry out online teaching of ADI model and build an efficient and high-quality classroom;(4)Encourage social inquiry practice and cultivate teamwork spirit and sense of social responsibility.
