Abstract/Summary:
Middle-class children are lively and active,and their emotions are diversified,which is the key period to cultivate their emotional adjustment ability.Kindergarten is an important environment to promote the development of children’s emotional adjustment ability.Teachers should organize some activities to improve children’s ability in this respect.Children’s age determines that their cognitive characteristics are that understanding pictures is better than understanding words,so picture books are good educational materials.The purpose of this study is to explore whether it can effectively promote the development of middle-class children’s emotional adjustment ability through the intervention of the theme activities of Chinese local picture books.In this study,60 children from two middle classes in a public kindergarten in Tianjin were selected as the research objects,and randomly assigned to the experimental class and the control class.The external conditions of the two classes were basically the same.The children in the experimental class were given a theme activity of Chinese native picture books for 8 weeks,and the control class only put in Chinese native picture books,without any intervention of Chinese native picture book activities.After the experiment,the pre-and post-test scores of children in the experimental class and the control class were tested by paired sample T-test.The conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The theme activities of Chinese local picture books can promote the development of middle class children’s emotion regulation ability,and children’s emotional regulation development and the use of emotional regulation strategies have been significantly improved;(2)The theme activities of Chinese local picture books can improve the development of middle class children’s emotion regulation,and children have made obvious progress in emotion recognition,understanding,expression and regulation;(3)Theme activities of Chinese local picture books can improve the use of emotion regulation strategies of middle class children.Children obviously increase the frequency of using four positive strategies:cognitive reconstruction,problem solving,alternative activities and self-consolation,while obviously reduce the frequency of using two negative strategies: emotional venting and aggressive behavior.According to the research results,this study suggests that in the process of theme activities of Chinese native picture books,teachers should choose appropriate Chinese native picture books,carry out colorful activities,set an example and constantly reflect on them.
