In this paper it is selected the mathematical modeling tests from Chinese college entrance examination,Edexcel A-Level,the SAT and ACT in the United States,and the Australian VCE test in the past five years as the research targets.Comparison and analysis will be carried out from three aspects: types,amounts,and degree of difficulty.Among them,a comprehensive evaluation model is established in accordance with the comprehensive difficulty of the tests,and the comprehensive evaluation of the difficulty of these tests will be introduced from five dimensions: background,inference,operation,modeling tools,and modeling level.Conclusions are drown based on the comparison and analysis of tests from these four countries.(1)The mathematical modeling tests in Chinese college entrance examination are rich in forms,including multiple-choice questions,completion questions,and answer questions,while in terms of British,American,and Australian tests,only one or two forms are involved.(2)The number of mathematical modeling tests in Chinese college entrance examination is relatively small,accounting for one-third of the proportion of other three countries.(3)The background of British,American and Australian mathematical modeling tests are closely related to present life,and the real situations are taken into account in the derivation steps,while China has shortcomings in these two dimensions.Operation,modeling tools,and modeling level are three dimensions that are relatively more difficult in China.Following suggestions are given in response to the above conclusions:(1)The preparation of the tests should focus on the creation of problem situation for the background materials of the tests.(2)Improve the basic teaching consciousness of the high school teachers in terms of mathematical modeling,and actively research,accumulate and create the teaching materials for mathematical models.(3)Enhance student's interest in mathematical modeling.Comprehensive and improved mathematical modeling activities should be carried out under the scientific and reasonable guidance of teachers,and thus the proficiency of mathematical modeling will be improved.
