Emotional understanding is an important part of young children's emotional competence and is a social perceptual component.The pre-school years are a critical time for the rapid development of emotional cognition and socialization,and enhancing emotional education for young children can contribute to their development in many ways.In reality,there are neglected children with low social status in the early childhood population,and a review of previous studies shows that most of the research on young children's emotional understanding has focused on the whole child,with fewer interventions targeting neglected children.Therefore,this study uses emotional picture book reading as a starting point for promoting the dimensions of emotional understanding in neglected children,in order to improve the emotional understanding of neglected children.The independent variable was emotional picture book reading,the dependent variable was the level of emotional understanding of the neglected children aged 4-6 years,and the unrelated variables were controlled for the nursery and environment,the teachers and the subjects.After measuring the emotional understanding of the children,the following conclusions were drawn from the statistical analysis of the data using SPSS 23.0.1.Emotional picture book reading promotes the overall level of emotional understanding in neglected children aged 4-6: emotional picture book reading promotes the overall level of emotional understanding in neglected children aged 4-5;emotional picture book reading promotes the overall level of emotional understanding in neglected children aged 5-6.2.There are age differences in the promotion of emotional comprehension in neglected children aged 4-6: emotional picture book reading promotes the overall level of emotional comprehension in neglected children aged 4-5;emotional picture book reading promotes the overall level of emotional comprehension in neglected children aged 5-6;emotional picture book reading has an uneven impact on the emotional comprehension of neglected children aged 4-6.3.Emotional picture book reading does not promote gender differences in the emotional understanding of neglected children aged 4-6 years: emotional picture book reading does not promote the emotional understanding of neglected children aged 4-5 years by gender;emotional picture book reading does not promote the emotional understanding of neglected children aged5-6 years by gender.Based on the above findings,it is proposed to strengthen the guiding role of emotion education for young children's emotional understanding;to pay attention to the facilitating role of picture book reading for young children's emotional understanding;and to respect the developmental differences of young children's emotional understanding at different ages.
