| Under the “double reduction policy”,the oral expression skill of primary school students is increasingly valued.Students in the middle years of primary school are at a prime stage in the development of their language skills and thinking skills.The oral communication teaching as an integrated activity of linguistic application,the aim of teaching not only develop students’ oral expression skills,but also focus on the development of their language thinking.Language is the expression of thinking,and the development of expressive language skills cannot be separated from the thinking.However,the current oral communication teaching usually focuses on students’ expression rather than thinking.And it must be detrimental to the development of students’ language thinking.Mind map is increasingly being used within the field of education,and it as a visual tool to develop students’ thinking effectively.In primary school of Chinese teaching,The research on mind map is mostly focused on reading and writing,and there is less research on the oral communication teaching with mind map.This study is based on the oral communication teaching in the middle years of primary school.It introduces the teaching method of mind map and reveals the feasibility of mind map to assist in oral communication teaching by analyzing the oral communication module in the textbook.As the subject of study,the students in experimental class and comparison class of primary school S are taught with the different method which is based on the mind map teaching and traditional teaching.Analyzing and discussing the impact of oral communication teaching based on mind mapping on teaching effectiveness by oral communication level tests,questionnaires,classroom observations and teacher interviews to find out the teachers’ attitudes and evaluations of new ways of teaching and learning.The experimental results showed that compared with the traditional oral communication teaching,the teaching method based on mind map improved students’ oral communication skills and increased their interest in learning oral communication significantly.The study demonstrates the effectiveness of mind map when it assists in oral communication teaching.In the process of using mind map to assist in the oral communication teaching,finding out the problems in teachers’ conceptions of teaching,in the process of implementation,and in students’ learning initiatives and making an analysis of the reasons accordingly.Finally,strategies for improving oral communication teaching with mind map are presented in three ways: updating the concept of oral communication teaching and transforming into a learning teacher;using the oral communication teaching flexibly and promoting the connection and integration with mind map;keeping the students at the centre status and stimulating students’ internal motivation for the oral communication learning. |
