| The 2020 revised "General High School Biology Curriculum Standards" proposes in terms of scientific thinking,students are required to use critical thinking to examine Socio-scientific Issues related to biology based on the knowledge and evidence they have learned in the course of biology learning.In senior high school,the development and cultivation of students’ critical thinking disposition is particularly important.This research applies SSI teaching to high school biology classrooms.Through four-month teaching practice,it explores the impact of SSI teaching on the critical thinking disposition of high school students,and provides reference for frontline educators to carry out SSI teaching in daily teaching.This study selects the content suitable for SSI teaching in the compulsory one "Molecules and Cells" module of the new textbook of Zhejiang Science Edition.The first grade students of a high school directly affiliated to Hangzhou City,Zhejiang Province are selected as the research objects,we randomly select two classes in the first grade of higher education and assign them to the experimental group and the control group.The experimental group implemented SSI teaching,and the control group followed conventional teaching.Before and after the experiment,California Critical Thinking Disposition Text Questionnaire(Revised Edition by Wang Guocheng and others,CTDI-CV)was put in to test the students’ critical thinking disposition,to investigate the overall development and changes of each dimension of the students’ critical thinking disposition before and after the implementation of SSI teaching.Use SPSS23.0 to process and analyze the collected questionnaire data.After the four-month teaching experiment was over,three students from the experimental class were randomly selected to conduct after-school interviews as the qualitative analysis materials for this research.Through the analysis of experimental data and the results of student interviews,it is found that SSI teaching has a significant role in promoting the analytical ability and curiosity dimension of critical thinking disposition.Senior high school students support the implementation of SSI teaching in biology classes.Through this research,it is recommended to carry out SSI teaching in four aspects: extensive collection of topic resources,careful selection of topics to be discussed,improvement of teachers’ professionalism,and emphasis on daily classroom penetration to improve students’ critical thinking disposition. |
