Abstract/Summary:
Prosocial behavior is an important aspect of teenagers’ social development,which is influenced by many factors,such as family,school and individual.Most of the existing studies focus on the prosocial behavior of Han adolescents,while the research on the social development of Mongolian and other minority adolescents is insufficient.The purpose of this study is to investigate the prosocial behavior characteristics of Mongolian middle school students and how family factors affect them.In this study,311 Mongolian middle school students were selected as the research objects,and family environment questionnaire,basic empathy scale,moral identity questionnaire and prosocial tendency scale were used to explore the relationship between family environment and prosocial behavior,and the role of empathy and moral identity in it.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The educational level of parents has a significant impact on the prosocial behavior of Mongolian middle school students.The score of prosocial behavior of middle school students whose mother’s educational background is high school or university or above is significantly higher than that of middle school students whose mother’s educational background is primary school or below,while the score of prosocial behavior of middle school students whose father’s educational level is high school is also significantly higher than that of middle school students whose father’s educational level is primary school or below.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between family environment and prosocial behavior of Mongolian middle school students,and also between empathy and moral identity and prosocial behavior.(3)Empathy and moral identity play a mediating role in the relationship between family environment and prosocial behavior.(4)There is a chain mediating effect of family environment empathy moral identity prosocial behavior.In conclusion,the prosocial behavior of Mongolian middle school students is greatly influenced by family factors,and family environment affects their prosocial behavior through individual factors such as empathy and moral identity.
