The teaching goal of the core literacy of "concept for life" proposed in the "General High School Biology Curriculum Standard"(2017 edition 2020 revision)represent the important symbol of the core literacy of biology,and the establishment of the "concept for life" is based on the learning of conceptual knowledge in biology.Under the guidance of the curriculum principal of "content focusing on big ideas",teaching based on the concept construction plays an increasingly important role in high school biology teaching and this importance is reflected in the teaching activities of each class.Students are the main body of learning activities.Therefore,how to absorb students immersed in class and correctively construct the scientific concept by using effective teaching strategies and design effective activities in class should be a direction worthy of research by biology teachers.The POE(Predict-Observe-Explain)model has confirmed beneficial to students’ concept construction by emphasizes paying attention to students’ concept formation process,attaching importance to and emphasizing the development of students’ subjectivity.Based on previous researches on concept teaching,this study explores the role of POE teaching strategies in concept teaching.Firstly,the research direction and research ideas were determined by literatures reading analyzing,The relevant key concepts involved in this research were defined.The general process of POE teaching strategy specifically applied to the teaching practice was summarized based on the previous research.Secondly,select oneclass teaching content in textbook,and completed teaching design toward POE teaching strategy based on content analysis,student situation analysis,the teaching goals determined.The design was applied to control group teaching practice in two classes from a middle school of Yangzhou,Jiangsu province.Finally,date from teaching experiments were analysis to examine the students’ interests and attitudes in learning biological concepts,students’conceptual mastery and academic performance.The results of the use of concept test questions to detect students’ mastery of related concepts showed that there was no significant difference in the average score between the experimental class and the control class,but scores of the question of understanding and analyzed level in experimental class were higher than that in control class.It was evident that POE model is effective to promote students’ understanding and mastery of concepts.The students’ interest and attitude towards the learning of biological concepts was tested by the questionnaire to test.The results show that the students have a positive attitude towards the POE teaching strategy and believe that it is beneficial to improve their interest and attitude in the concept learning.The results show that the use of POE teaching strategy in the high school biology concept teaching can significantly improve students’ interests and attitudes and help students to better understand and master concepts.
