| Family education is the starting point of life education,and the investment in family education is of great value to the development of children.With the deepening understanding of educational governance system and governance capacity in our country,the importance of family in education is becoming more and more prominent.However,in the face of family education,we have to admit that in the process of current educational practice,a considerable number of parents have misunderstandings about the investment mode and training goal of family education.first,they completely entrust the task of educating their children to the school or even extracurricular tutoring institutions,overestimating the role of material and money investment in the process of children’s education,while neglecting their children’s cultural investment and even emotional investment.Second,China is in a special period of transition,coupled with the long-term academic achievement-oriented enrollment policy,which makes "emphasis on intelligence over morality,emphasis on knowledge over energy" has become a general trend of family education.In the process of children’s growth,families pay one-sided attention to their children’s academic achievement,while neglecting the cultivation of their non-cognitive ability.at the same time,there is a lack of understanding of the relationship between non-cognitive ability and academic achievement.Based on the data of Chinese family follow-up survey(CFPS)2018,this paper uses multiple regression method to explore the influence of family education investment on children’s non-cognitive ability and academic achievement,and to explore the mechanism between them.The study found that:(1)there are gender,grade and urban-rural differences in the three dimensions of family education investment.The specific performance is as follows: the family economic input of junior high school students is higher than that of primary school students;the family education investment in urban areas is higher than that in rural areas,showing consistent results in all dimensions of family education investment;although there is no gender difference in family education investment,but there is a significant preference for boys in rural families.(2)family education investment has a significant positive impact on children’s academic performance and non-cognitive ability.The specific performance is as follows: in addition to economic input,emotional input and cultural input have a direct positive impact on children’s academic performance.In addition,Except that economic input has no positive effect on children’s control points,other input modes have significant positive effects on self-esteem and control points.(3)the influence path of family education investment on children’s academic performance shows that noncognitive ability plays an intermediary role in the path.Specifically,self-esteem plays a complete intermediary role between economic input and children’s academic performance,while self-esteem and control points play a partial intermediary role between emotional input,cultural input and children’s academic performance,respectively.However,it is worth noting that the explanation rate of emotional input to academic performance is the highest,while that of economic input is the lowest.(4)the impact of family education on children’s academic performance will be heterogeneous because of gender,grade,urban and rural differences.The specific manifestations are as follows: compared with boys,economic input is more important to girls;compared to primary school students,emotional input is more important to junior high school students;compared with children of urban families,economic input,cultural input and emotional input all play an important role in improving the academic performance of children from rural families.However,due to economic and cultural constraints,emotional investment is the best choice for rural family education investment.Based on this,this paper puts forward some suggestions: to ensure appropriate family economic input to solve the worries of children’s pursuit of academic progress,to ensure full family emotional input and to stimulate children’s internal strength in pursuit of academic progress;to ensure appropriate family cultural input to provide a good environment for children to pursue academic progress;to choose a rational way of investment in family education to create the possibility of academic progress of children in rural families.Strengthen the close cooperation of family education,school education and social education to promote the modernization of family education. |
