The relationship between Chinese language education and Korean perception of China’s national image has attracted wide attention.Some scholars have used empirical methods and multi-dimensional modes to conduct this kind of research.However,these studies haven’t explored Korean high school students’ cognition of China’s national image while it is of great significance to go deeper into this dimension since those students constitute the main group to learn Chinese.Moreover,there are still some other problems in them,such as a small number of research samples and the failure to highlight the role of CPIK teachers in it.Therefore,this paper will include more samples in our investigation,expand the scope of the participants and focus on CPIK teachers so as to explore the correlation between Chinese language promotion in South Korea and the cognition of China’s national image.In this dissertation,a questionnaire has been designed to investigate the perception of Korean high school students on China’s image;statistical methods has been employed to analyze the survey data with the aid of the SPSS version 22 to examine how Korean high school students perceive China in reality and evaluate the Chinese language promotion on Korean high school students’ cognition of Chinese image;interviews have also been conducted to probe into the impact of CPIK teachers on Korean high school students’ perception of Chinese image.The analysis shows that Korean high school students have negative cognition on Chinese government and Chinese commodities,while they have positive cognition on the overall image of China as a whole,Chinese culture and Chinese people.Meanwhile,it is found that there is no significant correlation between students’ cognition of Chinese government and factors as to whether respondents have learned Chinese,how long they have learned Chinese and whether they have CPIK teachers;there is a positive correlation between Korean high school students’ cognition of the overall image of China as a whole,Chinese culture as well as Chinese people and the factor as to whether they have learned Chinese and there is a significant correlation between those students’ perception of the overall image of China as a whole,Chinese commodities,Chinese culture and Chinese people and factors as to how long they have learned Chinese and whether they have CPIK teachers.Case interviews show that CPIK teachers play a positive role in improving the Korean people’s awareness of China’s national image.This paper employs empirical methods,so its conclusion can be said to be objective and reliable.It aims to provide reasonable suggestions for the compilation of the way of Chinese language promotion,Chinese textbooks for Korean and for CPIK teachers so as to promote Chinese language and enhance the international community’s cognition of China’s national image. |
