Andy Hargreaves is a landmark figure in the field of teacher emotion research.Based on his profound education experience in sociology and in view of the problems and dilemmas in the process of educational change,Hargreaves firstly carries research on the emotional dimension of teaching subjects in educational change.Taking social constructivism theory and symbolic interactionism theory as research theoretical basis and from the perspective of interpersonal interaction,it is found that under the influence of educational change,teacher has emotional interaction with students,colleagues and parents in the teaching practice,and the emotional interaction affects the effect of educational change in turn.Therefore,Hargreaves constructs the research framework of teacher emotion under the background of educational change.Focusing on the theme of The Emotions of Teaching and Educational Change,Hargreaves has been investigating many teachers from various primary and secondary schools in Ontario,Canada deeply,and systematically explores the emotional practice of teaching in the process of teacher-students interaction,teacher-colleagues interaction and teacher-parents interaction,and forms a widely influential emotional practice of teaching theory.Hargreaves believes that emotion is the product of interpersonal interaction,and educational change influences teacher’s emotional practice by reorganizing interpersonal relationships between teacher and students,teacher and colleagues,and teacher and parents.And in turn,teacher’s emotional practice reacts on educational change and influences the promotion of educational change.Under the influence of educational change,teacher’s teaching is a kind of emotional practice,which includes emotional labour,emotional understanding between teacher and colleagues and emotional understanding between teacher and parents.Emotional labour means that teacher takes physical and mental efforts to make their emotions conform to the requirements of the educational situation.Emotional understanding between teacher and colleagues means that the communication between teacher and colleagues mainly takes place on the emotional level,so as to support teacher’s teaching activities from the emotional level.Emotional understanding between teacher and parents means that in the interpersonal interaction,both teacher and parents need to enter other’s experience field to feel and interpret other’s emotional experience.Teacher’s emotional practice runs through the whole process of classroom teaching,colleagues interaction and parents-school cooperation,with some emphasis in different teaching processes.Classroom teaching as the main field of carrying on educational change,teacher’s emotional labour in classroom teaching is the core of teacher’s teaching practice under the background of educational change.The interaction between teacher and colleagues as an extension of the practice of educational change,the emotional understanding between teacher and colleagues is the driving force of teacher’s teaching practice under the background of educational change.Parents-school cooperation as the support of the practice of educational change,the emotional understanding between teacher and parents is the guarantee of the teaching practice under the background of educational change.Only by grasping and analyzing Hargreaves’ s emotional practice of teaching theory systematically,can we deeply understand the significance and value of his theory.Through a systematic analysis of Hargreaves’ s emotional practice of teaching theory,it’s found that in terms of research content,his theory highlights the mutual restraint between educational change and teacher emotion,the interpersonal interaction of teacher emotion in teaching practice,and the practically leading nature of teacher emotion in the teaching process.And his theory also makes great contributions among the research theme,research perspective,research scope,research method and so on.His theory explores the teacher emotion under the background of educational change,which deepens the research theme of educational change.His theory analyzes teacher emotion based on the perspective of interpersonal interaction,which innovates the research perspective of teacher emotion.His theory analyzes teacher emotion focusing on the teaching implementation process,which expands the research scope of teacher emotion.And the qualitative research method is used to explore teacher emotion in his theory,which enriches the research method of teacher emotion.This paper explores Hargreaves’ s emotional practice of teaching theory systematically in order to provide theoretical reference for teacher emotion research and practical reference for the improvement of teacher emotion under the background of contemporary educational change in China by analyzing the background of Hargreaves’ s emotional practice of teaching theory as well as the main content of his theory.The contemporary educational change in China has entered a critical stage,and the construction of high-quality education system has become the top priority of educational change.The key of constructing high-quality education system is to train a group of high-qualified,professional and innovative teachers with deep educational emotion,so the research on teacher emotion is of great importance.Based on the background of contemporary educational change in China and combining with Hargreaves’ s emotional practice of teaching theory,on the one hand,the teacher emotion research can pay attention to the research field of teacher emotion in the educational change,focus on the teacher’s emotional labour research in the teaching implementation process,center on the exploration of teacher’s emotional understanding in interpersonal interaction and adopt qualitative research method to deeply analyze emotional practice of teaching.On the other hand,it is necessary to improve teacher’s emotional literacy in teaching practice in order to effectively deal with the educational change,make full use of the emotional factors in the teaching implementation process to optimize emotional labour,construct the emotional community of teaching practice to boost the emotional understanding and increase the interaction between teaching subjects to enhance emotional understanding,so as to promote teacher to be the leader of educational change from the aspect of emotional practice.
