In the process of learning mathematics,it’s necessary for teachers to communicate with students or students need to exchange their ideas most of the time.In recent years,the national education ministry has also emphasized the importance of mathematics reading.Language conversion is a very important ability in reading,which affects students’ reading ability.Mathematics language is divided into literal language,schema language and symbolic language.Due to the abstractness and preciseness of language itself,students will be confused in learning.How to help students overcome the difficulties in mathematical language understanding is the main purpose of this study.This paper firstly defines mathematical language and mathematical language conversion ability by studying relevant literature.And it divides mathematical language into written language,schema language and symbolic language according to the manifestation mode of mathematical language and classifies mathematical language conversion.In this study,the eighth grade students of Yuncheng Experimental Middle School were investigated by the method of test and investigation.The mathematics language conversion ability was divided into 6 dimensions,and the SOLO classification and evaluation theory was used to classify the students’ mathematics language ability and evaluate the results.After the analysis of the results,it is found that the eighth grade students have a low level of mathematical language conversion ability,and a small number of students are at the "relevant structure level" and "abstract extended structure level".In the interviews with teachers and students,it is found that the mathematical language conversion ability is positively correlated with their grades.At the same time,among the 6 conversion abilities,the ability of other languages to be converted into text languages is lower.Finally,according to the above conclusions,this paper analyzes the influencing factors of students’ language conversion ability,and puts forward corresponding teaching strategies,so as to provide reference for other teachers.
