It is important for students to grasp data analysis literacy and data processing ability of statistics.The study of high school students’ statistical knowledge in ethnic areas can not only help students have a better understanding of statistical knowledge,but also make teachers be aware of students’ learning difficulties to benefit their teaching process.On the basis of literature review,this research adopted the students in two high schools of Zhangjiachuan County,Gansu Province as the research object.Also,testing and questionnaires are used in this paper.The statistical knowledge is divided into four dimensions: data acquisition,data collation,data representation and data analysis.Three problems were studied in this paper:(1)the present statistics study situation of high school students in ethnic areas;(2)the influencing factors of high school students’ statistical learning in ethnic areas;(3)the teaching strategies to improve the statistical learning effect of high school students in ethnic areas.After the analysis of the test results,questionnaire results and interview results,the following conclusions are drawn: both acquiring data ability and organizing data ability of most of the students in grade three are at M level.For representation data,most of them are at U level.While for the study of analyzing data,most of them are at P level and U level.All the above shows that there are still many problems in students’ understanding of the basic concepts in statistical knowledge,the use of basic formulas,the production of statistical charts,the understanding and interpretation of the actual meaning of data.Also,there still exist significant difference in statistical learning between the two school students in the region,A school students are superior to B school students;there are also significant difference in statistical learning among students of different genders,female students are better than male students;there is no significant difference in statistical learning between students of Hui ethnic group and Han ethnic group.Students’ self-perception of the four dimensions of statistical learning is not appropriate.The main influencing factors of students’ learning are that students’ self-cognition of each dimension of statistical content is not consistent with the actual test.That is,some students’ self-cognition is not clear,students’ study habits,learning motivation,students’ learning comprehension ability,students’ practical process,students’ mathematics reading ability,the concrete process of combining statistics with real life and applying it,the relationship between students and teachers,the teaching methods adopted by teachers,the scattered curriculum of teaching materials,environmental impacts,social environment does not provide specific statistical cases,etc.Based on the analysis of the above influencing factors,this paper puts forward some teaching strategies to improve the efficiency of high school students’ statistical learning:(1)emphasizing statistical thought and stimulating students’ statistical thinking;(2)enriching exact teaching examples in daily life;(3)strengthening professional development and improving teachers’ professional skills;(4)paying attention to the development of personality and promoting the all-round development of students;(5)strengthening conceptual understanding and making students experience the randomness of data;(6)paying attention to process participation and grasping mathematical thinking.
