| After the 1980 s,English newspapers gradually appeared in China.In the 1990 s,China's external communication entered the television era.With the advent of the millennium,the Internet entered thousands of households,and traditional media relied on their own news media to establish English websites.,Xinhuanet is a direct agency of China's national news agency-Xinhua News Agency.Its English website is one of the main forces in China's external communication team.At the same time,Xinhua News Agency,as an international news agency,is also an important part of international communication.The Sports Channel is the main channel of Xinhua English Network.It is an important force for the spread of China's sports news to the outside world and undertakes the important task of sports cultural exchange.This research uses Fairclough's discourse analysis theory to study the news of Xinhuanet's English sports channel from three aspects: content analysis,legibility and rhetoric.Content analysis shows: Xinhuanet English sports news is mainly news,93% of news is news news,the length of the report is not long,most of the words are between 100-200 words,there is a lack of in-depth reports,and there are few pictures.Picture news accounts for only 15.7%,which makes it difficult to tell a good Chinese story.The projects of concern are mainly focused on football and basketball.The countries of concern,except China,are European and American countries where football and basketball are relatively developed.They pay less attention to the most popular sports in other countries;the subjects of the report are mainly athletes and sports teams,and the attention to off-field audiences is relatively low.;The reported object's gender ratio is unbalanced,masculinity is high,and feminization issues are less.The analysis of legibility showed that the average Flesch reading ease was 42.82,the average Flesch-Kincaid grade level was 13.13,and the corresponding grade was college,which belonged to the level of reading difficulty.Rhetorical analysis shows that Xinhuanet English sports news can skillfully use small words,ellipsis,metaphors,and personification.Research has shown that Xinhuanet Sports Channel's news coverage is not strong,lack of in-depth reports and sports commentary,timeliness,low news legibility,and insufficient interaction with the audience.It is difficult to present my country's sports culture through the external dissemination of sports news.,my country's position in the dissemination of international sports news,to realize the international influence of my country's sports events.The study believes that Xinhuanet Sports Channel should strengthen channel construction,strengthen training in English sports news professionalism,enhance audience awareness,and realize the mission of realizing sports culture dissemination and exchange through English sports news. |
