Because of the application of mathematics is increasing,mathematics plays an cumulatively vital part in social development and scientific and technological improvement.Mathematical modeling has gradually participated into the mathematics curriculum standards and mathematics teaching material.The mathematical modeling process with the final goal of solving practical problems is conducive to improve students' mathematical adhibition awareness and enhance their actual innovation capacity.Hence,it is useful to know the present condition of junior high school students' mathematical modeling capacity,put forward specific and feasible mathematical modeling ability training strategies,and supply reference recommendation for teachers to effectually perform mathematical modeling teaching.This study will test the junior high school students from two different schools in Liaoning Province to realize the present actuality of junior high school students' mathematical modeling ability.The main contents include:(1)Through literature analysis,this paper analyzes the collected research results and works on mathematical modeling ability,acquires the related constructs of mathematical modeling capacity,the standard partition of mathematical modeling capacity,and the research status of mathematical modeling ability,which are the theoretical basis of this study.(2)Through the investigation and test method,the third year students from two different schools in Liaoning Province are selected as the research objects.Four test questions,namely "space utilization rate","water leakage experiment" and "supermarket operation management",are selected to form a formal test paper.According to the division of mathematical modeling ability,the correlative detailed grading rules are formulated and used as a testing tool.The target of study were tested and the data were collected,and the test conclusion were analyzed.(3)Through the investigation,the conclusion is: the level of junior high school students' mathematical modeling ability is generally not high,and there is no outstanding distinction between boys and girls.In test 1 "space utilization",the average modeling ability of students is relatively low.In test 2 "water leakage experiment",the average modeling ability of students is in the moderate level.In test 4 "supermarket operation management",the average modeling ability of students is below average.Through the consequence of the students' in the course of mathematical modeling cognitive difficulties are diagnosed and analyzed,the results found that students' in the course of mathematical modeling problems primarily include: lack of awareness and confidence in mathematical modeling;difficult to turn the word language of practical issue into mathematical language;difficult to find the key information and mensurable relationship hidden in the problem situation;difficult to Accurate construction of a reasonable mathematical model.And on this basis,the paper come up with some teaching advice on how to enhance and cultivate students' mathematical modeling capacity,basically including that in teaching,teachers should purposefully cultivate students' mathematical modeling awareness and build up confidence;consciously cultivate students' mathematical reading capacity;pay attention to the relation between mathematical knowledge and real life,and attach importance to the variant practice of mathematical modeling problems.
