Mathematical modeling connecting mathematics with the real world.How to cultivate students’ mathematical application consciousness and improve their mathematical modeling ability has become a hot issue in today’s mathematics education.In the curriculum standard for senior high school mathematics(2017 Edition)(hereinafter referred to as the "curriculum standard"),mathematical modeling literacy is proposed as one of the six core elements,which establishes the important position of mathematical modeling in China’s middle school mathematics education.Therefore,understanding the level of students’ mathematical modeling literacy is an important basis to put forward mathematical modeling teaching strategies and promoting students’ mathematical modeling literacy.Based on the classification theory of SOLO,the division of mathematical core literacy dimensions,levels in curriculum standards and PISA2012,this study constructs six dimension and four level evaluation framework.Based on the established evaluation framework,Writer prepares the high school mathematical modeling literacy test.In order to find the factors that affect students’ mathematical modeling literacy,the author compiled a questionnaire according to students’ cognition of mathematical modeling.All the students of grade two in a senior high school in Xi’an were tested.After the test,the author interviewed three mathematics teachers face to face.The results show that:(1)Senior high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy is low as a whole.(2)There are significant differences between male and female students in mathematical modeling literacy.(3)There are significant differences in mathematical modeling literacy between arts students and science students.(4)The correlation coefficient between the level of mathematical modeling literacy and mathematical achievement of high school students is 0.434,showing a significant positive correlation;(5)The level of mathematical modeling literacy of high school students is significantly different.(6)The correlation coefficient between senior high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy and cognitive level is 0.81,showing a significant positive correlation.Further analysis of the factors affecting high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy are as follows:(1)School does not pay enough attention to the cultivation of students’ mathematical modeling literacy.(2)Teachers are lack of professional quality and theoretical guidance.(3)The teaching method of mathematical modeling is single.(4)Students’ cognitive level of mathematical modeling is low.Based on the analysis of the current situation and causes of high school students’mathematical modeling literacy,this paper puts forward the following suggestions from the macro perspective of policy-making,teacher training and the micro perspective of teachers’ Classroom Teaching:(1)It is suggested that the education departments improve the training scheme of students’ mathematical modeling literacy.(2)Schools and teachers attach importance to the development of students’ mathematical modeling literacy.(3)Improve the level of mathematical modeling literacy of teachers.(4)According to the actual level of students,teachers arrange teaching content reasonable.(5)Combined with the content of teaching materials,timely cut into mathematical modeling.(6)Combined with the actual situation,enrich the form of modeling.
