STEM Project-Based Learning has become a hot topic in the field of education in recent years.The STEM Project-Based Learning mode based on scientific inquiry is a new attempt to solve meaningful problems in the real world by using the knowledge of science,technology and mathematics in scientific and technological innovation courses based on engineering design,cultivate students'innovation ability and problem-solving ability,and improve students' STEM literacy.It is an important means to train students to better adapt to the future social development.In theoretical study,through the profound interpretation of scientific inquiry and STEM Project-Based Learning,and the process of scientific inquiry in engineering practice,various elements of STEM can be well penetrated.In order to realize the systematic learning process,the "STEM Project-Based Learning mode based on scientific inquiry" is constructed on the theoretical basis of constructivist theory and "learning by doing" theory.This mode can guide students how to start with a specific project.To realize the cultivation of STEM literacy in the process of raising questions,conjecture and hypothesis,designing schemes,implementing schemes,completing works,exchanging and reporting.STEM is realized in the specific operation process,which is both hands-on and brain activity,and requires both software and hardware of the school.In order to understand some specific conditions of the school,we designed an investigation project.We conducted interviews with 6 teachers from different schools in Yinchuan,and conducted a questionnaire survey among 381 students in grade one and grade two of a high school in Yinchuan.The survey found that teachers and students were interested in exploratory experiments and had certain exploratory abilities.However,due to the limitations of experimental conditions and learning time,students still had few opportunities to do experiments by themselves.However,teachers and students still had high enthusiasm for Project-Based Learning.The practical research part first introduces the teaching arrangement of "science and technology innovation course" in a middle school,and takes two specific lessons of the school teachers as cases to let everyone know their teaching philosophy.Secondly,with the assistance and guidance of the course teachers,we designed a self-help epidemic prevention materials receiving machine project according to the "STEM project-based learning mode based on scientific inquiry" and implemented it on the platform of science and technology innovation course.We selected a total of 22 students from the class who chose the "intelligent robot" module to carry out teaching practice.Through the process of project principle learning,engineering model design,hands-on production,testing and evaluation,I penetrated STEM literacy,and completed the project in 4 weeks.The quantitative evaluation of each link of scientific inquiry showed that 5 students scored more than 80,16 students scored from 60 to 80,and 2 students failed.Stem literacy was evaluated by grades,including 3 from grade A,12 from grade B,6 from grade C and 1 from grade D.Practice has proved that the use of "STEM project-based learning mode based on scientific inquiry" to cultivate students' STEM literacy is effective.Students also have a deeper understanding of the principles of physics in the program.If conditions permit,it is also feasible to infiltrate such a STEM project-based learning method into the physics curriculum.
