With the growth of China’s economic level and the change of social thought, marriage customs in China are more individual and autonomous than before, while the divorce rate in China is rising year by year. With such a large population base in China, there are more and more divorced single-parent families in China.Generally, divorced single-parent families are more likely to have problems with emotional support than ordinary families due to their incomplete family structure, where these problems are dominated by the parent-child relationship.Based on this, this paper adopts the Virginia Stair Family Therapy Model to intervene in the parent-child relationship problems of single-parent families, which can effectively promote mutual support among family members and is more conducive to enhancing the intervention effect with a systemic perspective. In this study, the single-parent family of protagonist X was selected as the subject of the study, and the relevant theoretical techniques of the Virginia Stair Family Therapy Model were used to carry out the intervention.Firstly, this paper used the Iceberg model theory and communication gesture sculpture to analyze the wrong way of interaction between the protagonist and his family members and determine what kind of low selfesteem survival posture they are in.Then, this paper used the interaction component intervention technique to change the current wrong way of communication to achieve superficial and substantive consistency. Finally, this paper used thefamily life chronicles to promote deeper communication and mutual understanding among family members, thus reducing parent-child conflict and increasing mutual support.Through the service, the parent-child relationship of the protagonist’s family was significantly improved. On the one hand, the communication between the protagonist and his father was facilitated, and the father was more patient in listening to the protagonist, realizing that the protagonist had grown up and respecting the protagonist’s ideas;on the other hand, the protagonist received support and encouragement from his parents and became more cheerful and confident.Due to the special nature of this case, there are still many shortcomings and areas for improvement in the research process. In general, this paper mainly analyzed the crisis of trust in the process of service implementation, the effectiveness of the relevant therapeutic techniques and the resistance of localization of the Virginia Stair Family Therapy Model,so as to provide reference for future services related to parent-child relationships in divorced single-parent families.
