It is an important task of mathematics learning to cultivate pupils' spatial concept, which is also the requirement of the new curriculum standard.A good spatial concept is an important sign of good mathematical ability. In actual teaching, due to the lack of effective teaching means to assist teaching, students are difficult to understand more abstract space geometry knowledge and lack of interest in learning mathematics, which often makes front-line teachers feel that little effect is achieved. This study tries to combines educational games with inquiry learning, gives full play to the feature that educational games combine education with entertainment, and constructs a game-based inquiry learning model by analyzing the current situation of the spatial concept level of primary school students,so that students can develop their spatial concept in the process of funny learning. This study uses literature analysis, investigation and research, teaching experiment method to sort out the relevant literature, obtain theoretical support, analyze the principles of game-based inquiry learning, construct the game-based inquiry learning mode, build the teaching design framework of game-based inquiry learning, and verify the mode's effect through teaching experiments. The following work has been carried out.(1)Literature review and theoretical research.Through reading and analyzing a large number of literature, this study summarizes the research status of spatial concept and game-based inquiry learning, defines relevant concepts such as spatial concept,game-based and inquiry learning, and determined the theoretical basis supporting this study.(2)Analyze the construction basis and principles of game-based and inquiry learning mode, summarizes the learning characteristics of cultivating spatial concepts, makes a feasibility analysis of using game-based inquiry learning to develop students' spatial concepts,Based on the above, this study builds a game-based inquiry learning mode and constructs a teaching design framework for the application of this mode.(3)In this study,by analyzing the textbooks,we determine the appropriate learning content, choose the educational games related to the learning content, and analyze the game situation, rules and characteristics,so as to carry out the teaching design of applying game based inquiry learning mode.(4)Verify the application effect of game-based inquiry learning mode. The students of two parallel classes in a primary school in Jinan City were taken as experimental subjects to carry out teaching experiments. After the teaching experiments, the students were tested on the learning achievement of spatial concept and the feedback questionnaire was conducted to the students.According to the obtained data, the application effect of game-based inquiry learning mode is analyzed, and the influence of this mode on the development of students' spatial concept is studied.Based on the relevant literature and existing research, this study creatively combines educational games with inquiry learning, and applies the relevant research results to the cultivation of the space concept of the fifth grade primary school students. The results show that: the game-based inquiry learning has a good effect on the development of primary school students' space concept, and the game based inquiry learning has a positive impact on students' learning enthusiasm and inquiry ability. However, due to the limited research time and personal ability of the researcher, there are several limitations which can be explored by follow-up research. It is expected that the teaching design will be optimized and improved in the future teaching practice.
