The mathematical world is a symbolic world,and mathematical symbols are the special language of mathematics.With the development of mathematics,mathematical symbols have undergone the process of screening,transformation and improvement.It gradually formed a conventional,standardized and formal system.As the abstract language of mathematics,mathematical symbols are not only the tool of mathematics,but also the method of mathematics.Students' perception of mathematical symbols affects their understanding of mathematical knowledge,and also affects the development of their mathematical thinking and expression ability.However,due to the high generality and abstractness of mathematical symbols,there are some difficulties in learning and using mathematical symbols for primary school students whose thinking development level is based on concrete image thinking.Therefore,how to effectively carry out the teaching of mathematical symbols and guide students to better understand and apply mathematical symbols is a problem worthy of in-depth study and discussion.In order to understand the current situation of primary school students' mathematical symbols learning,this study mainly adopts the methods of test and interview,and selects the sixth grade teachers and students of my practice school as the research participants.First of all,based on the mathematical symbols presented in the primary school mathematics textbooks of the People's Education Press,the test paper is compiled.The sixth grade students are given a unified test to investigate their understanding and application situation of mathematical symbols.Secondly,according to the test results,some students and teachers are interviewed to explore the existing problems of students,and the attribution analysis is carried out.The survey found that there are some problems in pupils' understanding of mathematical symbols,such as symbol knowledge is difficult to be extracted,symbol understanding is superficial and symbol knowledge is single and scattered.In the application of mathematical symbols,there are mainly problems such as it is difficult to express in mathematical symbols,the instrumental consciousness of symbols is weak and the writing of symbols is not standard.Therefore,in order to optimize teachers' teaching of mathematical symbols and promote pupils' learning of mathematical symbols,this paper puts forward eight suggestions from four aspects: pay attention to the leading-in of mathematical symbols,strengthen the understanding of mathematical symbols,strengthen the application of mathematical symbols and gradually cultivate students' mathematical symbol consciousness.The specific suggestions are listed as follows.Feel the beauty of symbols to stimulate the interest in learning.Introduce the history of symbols to present the process of development.Consider the form and content of mathematical symbols.Establish the differences and connection of mathematical symbols.Standardize the application of mathematical symbols in teaching practice.Train the application of mathematical symbols in specific situation.Cultivate the habits of using mathematical symbols.And improve the consciousness of applying mathematical symbols.
