Under the background of promoting the balanced development of compulsory,the rural school has great improvement in educational infrastructures,such as school buildings,the number of book collection,teaching equipment and so on,with help of the funding and inspection of this policy.However,the quality of education in rural school is still fall behind urban schools.The number of students with learning difficulties is much larger than excellent students.The students who with excellent academic performance are quite rare.The rural school still has a long way to achieve the real balanced development of compulsory.In this context,this paper use qualitative research method to conduct a case study in the learning behaviors of a rural junior high school student who has excellent academic performance.Research was conduct in researcher's own working school.A Grade eight student was chosen as research object with the method of purposive sampling.Researcher use observing,interviewing,collecting object's materials and combing related theories to describe and analyze case student's learning behaviors in three dimensionalities,which are “Why she learns”,“How to learn” and “What's the learning results”.The first chapter investigated learning motivation.Research found that case student has strong,stable and sustained internal and external learning motivation because of her family,clear self-awareness and cognitive drive.The second chapter is used to describe case student's learning life to investigate the learning targets,learning style and the use of learning strategies.Based on chapter two,research found there are some advantages and disadvantages in case student's learning behavior.Advantages are(1)Strong motivation and high learning expectation;(2)strong learning autonomy.Disadvantages are(1)learning strategy problem;(2)lack of inquiry-based learning;(3)lack of cooperative learning.Research also found that there are some factors have positive influence on case student's study,which are(1)young and professional teachers who have personality charm which are good for the relationship between teachers and student;(2)head teacher's democratic management;(3)poor family economy situation reinforce learning motivation and reasonable parental educational idea.There are three negative factors(1)lack of selfconfidence and self-efficacy because of poor family;(2)negative peer group influence;(3)school is lack of educational resources and disable to manage available resources.Based on the research results,researcher propose some suggestions in four aspects for cultivating and administrate excellent academic performance student,which are student,teachers,school and parents.
