With the development of society and the advancement of science and technology,over-consumption has gradually become a very common phenomenon. While it brings convenience to people’s lives,it also brings some negative effects, especially for college students who are gradually forming three outlook.Nowadays, with the prevailing of consumerism, the media and e-commerce are promoting and even advocating“over-consumption”.In addition, the “low threshold and high efficiency” of “Ant Credit Pay”,“Baitiao Pay of JD.com” and other prepayment means have contributed to the prevailing of "over-consumption".These all lead to the over-consumption behaviour of college students. However,we have to pay attention to the negative impact of over-consumption behaviour on college students, which has not only seriously hindered the growth of college students, but also has a negative impact on society. As for the problem of over-consumption among college students, the author conducted a field survey in X University in the form of questionnaire.Through the analysis of the data, the author found that over-consumption among college students is relatively common. Most college students lack financial awareness and their main source of income is the living expenses provided by their parents. Therefore, while over-consumption brings them convenience,it also has some negative impact on themselves. At the same time, through one-on-one interviews with some students with consumption problems, the author found that over-consumption has a negative impact on their psychological, physiological and social interaction. Here, they hope to get feasible methods and support to improve their rational consumption ability to change the status quo.In view of these current situations and needs, the author selected eight group members through purposive sampling of questionnaire survey and interviews.Guided by social learning theory, cognitive behavior theory and behavioral economics, the author formulated and carried out a group activity of "living within our means and consuming rationally" for five times.Ranging from recognizing over-consumption and clarifying its own consumption problems,to learning to see through consumption traps and psychology, learning and practicing rational consumption skills, and then establishing a rational consumption concept and learning to consume rationally, our group goals were gradually achieved. In the process of implementation,we have been reflecting and improving, trying to make the group move forward more smoothly and achieve the desired results. At theend of the group, the author made a detailed evaluation of the group, including process evaluation and result evaluation.According to the evaluation results, through this group activity, the group members’ demands are basically satisfied, their advanced consumption behavior is reduced, their consumption concept gradually tends to be rational, and their rational consumption skills and personal ability are improved. Therefore, this study shows that the involvement of group social work in college students’ over-consumption behaviour is feasible and effective.
