The first step to develop national education is to improve the comprehensive quality of teachers.In recent years,the research on Teachers’ competence has been paid more and more attention by policy makers and scholars.The development of education in the vast border areas and ethnic areas,including Tibet,is lagging behind,so it is particularly important to study and promote the development of teachers’ teaching competency in these areas.Taking the teaching competence of Tibetan middle school Chinese language teachers as the starting point,the author mainly adopts the methods of literature and questionnaire survey.The research object is 153 Chinese language teachers from the first tier middle schools in 6 cities and 1 area in Tibet.It is found that the overall level of Chinese language teachers’ teaching competence in Tibet middle school is high but there are some deficiencies,and there are differences in Teachers’ individual teaching competence.Many factors affect the teaching competence of Chinese language teachers in Tibet middle school.The teaching ability and professional character of Chinese language teachers in Tibetan middle schools are higher than 3.750,and they perform well.The scores of several secondary indexes,such as subject knowledge,teaching design,teaching exploration and professional attitude,are also higher than 3.750.Generally speaking,Tibetan middle school Chinese language teachers have higher professional emotion and character,and their teaching ability is more prominent.However,the score of knowledge literacy dimension is poor,and its subordinate’s teaching knowledge dimension score is the lowest of all the secondary indicators.Teachers’ teaching competence shows significant differences in urban and rural areas,gender,age,education background,teaching age,professional title and other aspects.Heavy teaching tasks,too many chores,poor teaching conditions and examination oriented education are the main factors restricting the improvement of teaching competence of Tibetan middle school Chinese language teachers.In order to effectively improve the teaching competence of Tibetan middle school Chinese language teachers,it is suggested that schools should actively carry out teaching and research activities,optimize in-service teacher training,guide teachers to read widely,create opportunities for exchange and learning,improve teachers’ teaching and research level,reduce teachers’ psychological pressure and improve teachers’ economic treatment.
