Abstract/Summary:
Social responsibility is one of the students’ key competences in biology,and social responsibility education is an important part of biology teaching.However,the development of social responsibility of contemporary middle school students is not balanced.However,contemporary students’ understanding of the content and meaning of social responsibility is not comprehensive.The textbook is an important basis for teaching,and the content of social responsibility in the biology textbook plays a very important role in the education of social responsibility.The research object of this article is the British high school biology textbook AQA"Biology" AS book and A2 book,using the literature research method,content analysis method,case study method,induction method to the British high school biology textbook topics,presentation methods,related columns,writing characteristics and styles were studied and analyzed,and the following conclusions were reached:British high school biology textbooks mainly permeate social responsibility education around the four themes of social responsibility and the history of life sciences,social responsibility and caring for life,social responsibility and social participation,social responsibility and ecological environment.The choice of these topics is very close to the daily life of students,and it is easy to arouse students’ sense of social responsibility.There are four ways of presenting social responsibility in high school biology textbooks in the UK:title presentation,graphic presentation,exercise presentation,and body language presentation.The presentation of social responsibility is not simply a method,which fully shows the importance of social responsibility content in biology textbooks in high schools in Britain;the common use and organic combination of multiple presentation methods increases the flexibility.There are relevant social responsibility contents in the "Learning Objectives"column,"Application" column,"Extended" column,"Problem Summary" column,and"Exercise Question" column in the British high school biology textbooks,which have been discussed,demonstrated,and practiced.In many activities based on real situations,(?)in different columns and the educational effect is different,which can help students understand the knowledge from multiple angles.After studying the content of social responsibility in biology textbooks of British high schools,this paper,taking the section "Gene Expression and Cancer" as an example,analyzes the style of social responsibility in biology textbooks of British high schools from seven aspects:learning objectives,preface,text,summary of problems,application,extension and illustrations.After studying the theme,presentation,related columns and methods of the social responsibility content in the British high school biology textbooks,it is concluded that the social responsibility content in the British high school biology textbooks is rich in content and diverse in presentation methods;The relationship between the picture and the text is attractive,and the relevant content echoes back and forth ".At the end of the study,based on the research on the theme,presentation,related columns,features and styles of social responsibility content in biology textbooks for senior high schools in the UK,suggestions were made for the compilation and teaching of biological textbooks in China:there are more diverse ways to present social responsibility content;set up teaching situations that are closer to students;tap the hidden teaching resources in teaching materials;increase the regional characteristics of teaching content;improve the practicality and openness of homework.It is hoped that this study will play an important part in implementing social responsibility education for students and will contribute to the development of social responsibility education and student social responsibility in China.
