Franz Liszt(1811-1886)is one of the outstanding representatives of romantic music in the 19 th century. As a pianist, composer, conductor, music educator, music critic and social activist,he pioneered the recitation of piano recital and master class, raising piano skills to an unprecedented level.Liszt greatly developed the creative technique of piano,so that its performance can imitate the effect of Symphony Orchestra.Liszt wrote two ballads after Chopin, among which the First Ballad in D flat major(S.170)was created from 1845 to 1848.Later in 1853,he wrote the Second Ballad in b minor(S.171).This paper takes the First Ballad as the research object.Combined with the existing views of previous scholars-Liszt's First Ballad is a work to pay tribute to Chopin, and the writer's own performance experience,it is considered that Liszt has not neglected the creation of this work. The First Ballad is by no means an exercise to pay tribute to Chopin.Liszt has inherited the creative characteristics of Chopin's music in the creation of this work.On the basis of it,it adds its own music creation characteristics, and injects fresh blood into the creation of this genre in terms of form, texture, harmony and performance techniques. It is a work that can not be ignored in the process of Liszt's piano music creation becoming mature. This paper will be divided into four chapters to analyze the inheritance and innovative characteristics of Liszt's First Ballad, and interpret it in combination with the key points of performance technology. The introduction analyzes the musical background of the First Ballad about the development of ballad, the characteristics of music creation between Liszt's early creation and Weimar period, and the creative process of the first Ballad. The first chapter is the analysis of musical form structure and tonal layout. The second chapter is the analysis of inheritance.Starting from the influence of Chopin's music creation on Liszt,it expounds in detail the materials derived from Chopin's music creation and compares their similarities and differences. The third chapter is the analysis of innovation in the First Ballad from Liszt's own music creation characteristics, involved in the harmony characteristics, the embodiment of Symphony thinking on the piano and the variation of texture. The fourth chapter summarizes the technical points of this work and makes relevant performance interpretation,in the hope of providing some reference for future performers and teachers.
