In the 18th century,Canton was the only window for foreign trade of China.In this article,the protagonist Chitqua is an ordinary craftsman who lives on statues living in such an environment.His clients are mainly businessman from the East India Company to trade in China.From 1769 to 1772,Chitqua had an unusual trip to Britain.During his stay in England,he was welcomed by the upper class in London and became the academician of the Royal Academy of Art.This article first starts with local material to study the living conditions of artists and merchants in Canton in the 18 th century where Chitqua was located,and attempts to restore the art production and social network of Chitqua in Canton during his period.Then combined foreign materials to study Chitqua 's British deeds and analyze the historical circumstances and cultural reasons for his popularity in British,and then try to present the British imagination of Eastern art represented by George III in 18 th century.The thesis finally returns to the interior of Chinese art history.We analyze the style and technique of Chitqua and similar styles of local Chinese clay sculptures,and discusses the ups and downs of Chitqua's extremely disparity in the fate of the two countries in the 18 th century.This article reveals the historical facts of the Qing Dynasty's export art's output and trade in the 18 th century from the perspective of sociology.
