The rapid development of technology has made most people available to smart phones.Benefitting from its portable and intelligent characteristics,the smart phone has brought great convenience to the modern life.This study applies mobile learning based on smart phone to English listening teaching in junior middle school,tries to solve some problems in English listening teaching in junior middle school,and points out some new ideas for improving English teaching.This study is a one-term comparative experiment about the application of mobile phone-based learning in English listening teaching in junior middle school.First,the author selected two classes whose English listening scores were not significantly different in middle school of Chengdu,Sichuan Province,and analyzed the listening scores of the two classes by SPSS,they were assigned to a control class and an experimental class.Secondly,in order to understand the subjects’ views and needs on mobile learning of listening based on smart phone,the author made a survey on the students to find out their views and suggestions,the survey found that most of the students thought it’s acceptable.They had the need and willingness to use smartphones for mobile learning,this provides a practical basis for the study.Based on previous study,the author applies traditional listening teaching methods in the control class,and use smart phones to assist teaching in the experimental class.This paper also designs the English listening teaching method of the smart phone in the junior middle school.Meanwhile,the teaching contents and the teaching pace of the control class and the experimental class are almost the same.At the end of the one-semester experiment,the author used SPSS to analyze the listening test data of the control class and the experimental class,and interviewed the students in the experimental class.It also summarizes the effect of the application of mobile learning based on smart phone in junior middle school English listening teaching.It is found that this kind of learning method is convenient for students to do listening practice after class,and can also link up the pre-class,in-class and after-class teaching;It has a positive effect on the improvement of their listening grades;Also,Students have a high degree of acceptance of this teaching method.In addition,the research also found that mobile learning based on smart phone needs to be combined with specific learning circumstances to determine the learning objectives and content.At the same time,what materials to learn,where to learn,whether there is a supervisor in the study of,etc.also need to consider.
