Translation Strategies For Intelligence Texts Under Text Type Theory

This paper is a report on the translation practice of the book Family Risks written by Masahiro Yamada,a famous Japanese family sociologist.Chapter 4,"The Twilight of the Stay-at-home Wife" and Chapter 5,"Where Lovers and Couples Will Go" are selected as the source text.As an important branch of sociology,the main function of family sociology is to study the origin and evolution of the family system,the structure and function of the family,the relationship between members and various modern issues.The book is a social science popular science article with the family structure change as the main narrative object,with its professional,concise and interesting language to provide an important theoretical support for the study of family sociology beginners.Therefore,how to make the target language readers get the same value orientation as the original text in the translation process is the focus of this translation practice.According to the Reiss text type,the practice object belongs to the information text.Therefore,combining with the textual characteristics of sociological works,the translator chooses the translation theory of Reiss' s text type theory for informational texts to guide this translation practice.In view of the principle of targeting and orientation of information text by Reiss,the translator has taken accuracy,integrity and fluency as the focus in combination with the characteristics of the translation practice text,and has also improved the translation quality in combination with translation strategies such as category shifts,default compensation for culture-loaded words,dividing,combining and so on.The purpose of this translation practice is to provide reference for the translation field of social science texts in China,and also to prove the feasibility of the theory of text types in guiding social science texts.
