China currently has a clear vision of its carbon peak and carbon neutral goals, which points the way to a comprehensive green transformation of China’s economic and social development.Wind power is an environmentally friendly technology that contributes to the key force in the fight against global climate change. Therefore, the translation practice selects chapters one and two of The Wind Power Story as the text, which focuses on the difficult beginnings of wind power in its early days and the coming of the era of small wind.Guided by Reiss’ s text type theory, this paper takes the English to Chinese translation of chapters 1 and 2 of The Wind Power Story as an example to explore the translation criteria and strategies of information-based texts.According to Reiss, text type is the main influencing factor for translators to choose the appropriate translation method. The text of this translation practice belongs to informational text.According to the theory of text type, when translating information-oriented texts, the translation should be oriented to the target language, conform to the reading habits of the target language readers, and ensure the accuracy and fluency of the translated language. On the basis of referring to relevant literature at home and abroad and combining the characteristics of translation practice texts, this report summarizes the translation standards of information-based texts, namely accuracy, logic, completeness and fluency. The accuracy of translation requires translators to pay attention to the accuracy of terminology and proper nouns. The logic of translation requires the translator to make additional translations at the articulation and restore the referents. The completeness of translation means ensuring that the content of the translation is complete, and adding explanations to other specialized terms that are not sufficient for the context. The fluency of translation focuses on the fluency at the sentence level, and long sentences are split and adjusted for long and difficult sentences. This translation project complements the study of the wind power and is of some reading value to Chinese readers. It provides translation methods applicable to the translation of energy texts in terms of vocabulary, syntax and discourse, and provides reference for later readers.
