| Many of the forms and contents of Chinese photographic artists’ works are related to China’s history,culture,and social reality.The motivation for some of these works comes from the artist’s strong red memories.The red memory here specifically refers to the memory of the great revolution and socialist construction led by the Communist Party of China.It is the memory of the times of the previous generations of Chinese people.Most of the artists listed in this article were born in the 1960s and 1970s after the founding of the People’s Republic of China,so their red memories are mostly concentrated in the socialist country construction of that era.Among the many artistic creations that use red memory elements,the works that use photography as the main creative method have received attention,but there are relatively few theoretical studies in this area.Therefore,this article will sort out the works related to red memory from the perspective of the language of photography creation.Study its internal creative motivation and external expression.This article first studies the original meaning of the etymology of "red",looks for the meaning and development of red in Chinese history,and explores the connotation of red based on the social reality of modern China.According to the related theoretical research of "collective memory" related to red memory,we analyze the reasons why artists are influenced by the times when creating,and get the influence of collective memory on artists from this perspective.Secondly,according to searching newspapers and periodicals information and related existing research,combing the related cultural phenomena about China’s red memory.Thirdly,to sort out and analyze the related works of Chinese contemporary photography artists,to explore the expression of red memories in different concepts,different expression methods,and different periods.In the end,this article analyzes the history and inevitability of photographs related to red memory from the perspective of the history of Chinese photography in the 20th century,and makes an outlook for its future. |
