Mencius' theory of mind and essence has always been an important part of Chinese theory of mind and nature.However,different researchers have adopted different methods,and their conclusions are not always consistent.This paper takes Mencius 'theory of mind as the topic,and based on the text analysis,uses hermeneutics to propose that Mencius recognizes human essence based on the "dividing mind and action" thinking mode,and then reveals the inner structure of Mencius' s theory of mind and essence.This paper is divided into four parts,including the following points:Firstly,it discusses the origin and development of the Confucian value in the pre-qin dynasty and why Mencius put forward the theory of goodness of essence.The value of human morality is the basis behind the justification of all actions,which is why I should do it.And value is not fixed,on the contrary,in a large period of time,value is constantly changing.Mencius' theory of goodness in nature is an inevitable result of the development of the pre-qin Confucian value theory.If we do not know the origin and development of the pre-qin Confucian value,it is difficult to understand why Mencius put forward the theory of goodness in nature.Therefore,the first chapter focuses on the origin and development of pre-qin Confucian values and why Mencius put forward the theory of goodness of nature.Secondly,based on the analysis of the chapter "talk about the nature in the World" in Mencius,it reveals that Mencius recognizes humanity with a "dividing mind and action" thinking mode,that is,how Mencius proposed goodness of nature,which can be called "theory of recognizing human essence".And then analyze the thinking mode of "dividing mind and action".In the concrete analysis and demonstration process,the dual evidence method is used.Thirdly,on the basis of the first two points,this paper analyzes the process of the manifestation of Mencius' four minds and the process of the formation from the four minds to the virtues,and concludes that Mencius' goodness is the result of the alternating combination of "feeling" and "knowledge".Fourthly,on the basis of the inner and outer structure of "mind and action",this paper analyzes Mencius' theory of existence and cultivation and solves the potential contradiction between Mencius' s saying that "Let a man first stand fast in the supremacy of the nobler part of his constitution","hao ran zhi qi" and "make the desire few".On the basis of Mencius' theory of knowledge and human essence,this paper,from the perspective of "generation" and "application",explains the complicated root of Mencius' "hao ran zhi qi".Finally,there are differences in the academic community about whether Mencius' "hao ran zhi qi" is a continuation of Confucianism or a copy of Huang Lao's Taoist spirit theory.The paper thinks that Mencius' s "hao ran zhi qi" is a copy of Zengzi's "self-shrinking spirit",not a copy of Huang Lao's Taoist spirit.
