The "wearable art movement" was proposed from the field of jewelry and apparel in the 1960 s.There is a fuzzy boundary between the art realm and the design industry about wearable objects. How to distinguish the difference between art and fashion? This paper discusses the application of wearable sculpture in art through the participation of body and sculpture and breaks the previous cognition of the immobility of sculpture. The "participation" mentioned in the paper stems from the phenomenology of the relationship between body sensation and sculpture. The experience generated by the body is different from the traditional sculpture. The audience does not hold an outsider's point of view to watch the sculpture. His or her body is within a relationship with the sculptures directly due to the intervention and generate empathy.I use the case study of artists, respectively,Franz Erhard Walther and Erwin Wurm,Rebecca Horn, and Ann Hamilton to analyze the phenomenon caused by the contact process and the body experience generated by the phenomenon to understand the particularity of wearable sculpture.Although the artistic concepts they express point to different contents, their works have the commonality of direct contact with the body. From the perspective of the empirical phenomenon, the wearable sculpture is the interface that makes the body perception valid. This paper tries to capture the body perception of the current existence.Through this project,I hope to find the core of wearable art and further arouse more thoughts on the concept of nontraditional sculpture.
