| Adverbs play an important role in the second language teaching.As a branch of adverbs,modal adverbs are always the key and difficult points in the second language teaching because of their empty meaning,vague scope and complex functions.Based on previous studies,this paper finds that second language learners generally have a high error rate of modal adverbs in the process of communication,and most of them adopt avoidance strategies.On one hand,it is due to the characteristics of modal adverbs,on the other hand,it has a lot to do with textbooks.As an important tool for teachers and students to learn,the proportion of knowledge points in the textbook,the distribution of difficulty,the times of recurrence and the recurrence interval and other factors directly affect the learning effect to a large extent.Therefore,studying the arrangement of modal adverbs in textbooks and finding out the existing problems and avoiding them in future textbooks will not only improve the textbooks,but also improve the acquisition of modal adverbs by second language learners.In this paper,two sets of comprehensive textbooks "New concept Chinese" and"New practical Chinese textbook" published by Beijing Language and Culture University are studied.Based on the form,state,situation and comparison of adverbs,and the characteristics of modal adverbs summarized by the academic community,modal adverbs in textbooks are selected.At the same time,combined them with the statistics of modal adverbs in "Chinese International Education with-syllables characters grading" in wu ying’s study on "Learning Chinese with ease--teaching outline of Chinese grammar as a foreign language",through the methods of data statistics and chart display,this paper analyzes the differences between the two sets of textbooks in terms of the number,difficulty and distribution of modal adverbs.Besides,the paper also compares and analyzes the problems existing in the two sets of textbooks according to recurrence times,recurrence forms and recurrence intervals,and puts forward some suggestions that can be adopted when compiling modal adverbs in the textbooks.For example:increase the number of selected words,pay attention to co-selected words,adjust the compilation order and distribution position,reasonably arrange the recurrence interval and recurrence times,adjust the recurrence form. |
