The Current Conflict Between Self And Other And Its Resolution

In the category of morality,we always emphasize the moral subject centered on "I",and form a certain influence on the moral object through moral behavior.Meanwhile,in this moral process,we also form a cognition and definition of the self.However,Levinas,a contemporary jewish philosopher,suspended the ethical and moral philosophy emphasizing "I" as the subject and established the ethical metaphysics,holding that ethics is the first philosophy.Traditional ontology is to probe into the origin of the world,the existence of roots,think in the universe,including me,all things are from the same source,no different from those of my existence,although have,also will ultimately be the same and generalization,behind all movement is only one "logos",all will eventually return to"one" the existence of the source.For this reason Levinas criticized the traditional ontology,thinking that the traditional ontology is the same "violence","light" violence.In the perspective of traditional ontology,the heterogeneity and diversity of the other different from me are ignored and rejected,and the other is homogenized and generalized.Without the other and heterogeneity,where does the moral relationship come from?Therefore,in Levinas's "other" ethics,he believes that morality should not start from the self,but should come from the other.Morality always exists for others,and then for itself.He proposed the establishment of a responsible ethics relationship with the incomprehensible other as the philosophy of Levinas's return ethics.He proposed that justice is the asymmetric responsibility we have to bear to the "other" in the first meeting with the "other",and this process of meeting and taking responsibility for the "other" can serve as a good policy for us to know ourselves,determine ourselves,improve ourselves and be kind to others.He regarded responsibility for himself as a prerequisite for responsibility for himself.How to treat others is to establish oneself in the modern society,and the most important philosophical attitude to know oneself is also the life attitude,while this "other" ethics is in the marginal zone in our modern civilized life.Our time is material,self and technological supremacy.We are always trapped in the shackles of individualism.We will fall into a dilemma because of the conflict between all personal interests and morals.The loss of ethical beliefs caused by the evil of human nature,the destruction of the moral system,and various non-moral phenomena are flooding the streets.Although Levinas' "other" ethics does not tell people the specific thinking about what moral people should do and how to do like traditional ethics,it does not discuss the defects and dilemmas of ethical life,nor seek to achieve a happy life.The specific conditions of the times,but the moral dilemma of the times tells us that our time is urgently needed for such an ethical thought toward others,and we need the "other"ethics to guide people's ethical life in the new era to become better.But at the same time,whether the ethical view of responsibility that emphasizes the "other" in morality can take root in an era of materialistic and technological supremacy is worth further consideration.
