The school of Luoyang had trumped through an odyssey of academic development since it was established.The initiation and prosperity of the school had always been involved in various social current.First,encountered by a mix of the prevalence of explanation of words in ancient books and importation of Buddhism,Confucianism was at the stage of pressing for a new breakthrough.Second,the choice of then government authority had always been laying tremendous influence over the development of various schools of thoughts.The two points above,on one side,had impulsed internal innovations of Confucianism,which inspired a booming wave of research.On the other side,they indicated that academic development during that period would be fundamentally influenced by political atmosphere.In North and South Song Dynasties,while the New School of Wang Anshi is popular thanks to the official support,the School of Luoyang had been suspended.Additionally,due to alienation of the School of Wang Anshi and factional struggles,there are growing divergences between the school of Luoyang and Wang Anshi.Hardship though the road was,however,it did not stop the school from polishing itself into fine thoughts and remained to date and finally,it even developed itself as one of the strongest branches of Confucianism.This great achievement can be explained by a combination of reasons.Guarding and fostering by following scholars of the school are the first and foremost,otherwise the School of Luoyang would probably extinguish.Another reason lies in the political support,as the political center of the country transferred to the South,the School of Luoyang made a breakthrough and stood out from many other schools.To make it proper,Yang Shi is supposed to be mentioned here as appreciation to his contributions to officialization of the school of Luoyang.Compared with other disciples,Yangshi was not only well known as a Luoyang School scholar,but also at that time had a certain right to speak in the administration unit of the state.It was his overall attack to school of Wang Anshi in both political and academic dimensions that had drawn attention of the emperor to the school of Luoyang and made this school gain momentum.In order to get a clear understanding of the School of Luoyang,it is a must to study Yang Shi.On basis of this,the article concentrate on Yang Shi,who had fundamentally contributed to foster and develop the School of Luoyang.Meanwhile,it shall be mentioned that activities of Yang Shi do have their sources.Actually,it had been his strong consciousness of problems that drove him forward and formed his academic style.The first chapter of the article will be about the consciousness of problems of Yang Shi.On one side,the author means to clarify the source and main content of his consciousness of problems.On the other side,it tends to demonstrate that whether the saying of "Wu Dao Nan Yi" could be counted as the source of his consciousness of problems or not.The second chapter,the author will detail conflicts of Yangshi and the counterpart school of Guanzhong.In searching of this point,it will analyse the statement that the school of Guanzhong stems from the School of Luoyang and Yang Shi's doubt of Xi Ming.With study of the two points,the author looks forward to summarize academic character of Yang Shi a strong sense of struggle.And it was exactly this sense that made him more subjective in criticizing other schools and led to inaccuracy,which is most obvious in the evaluation of the School of Wang Anshi.Therefore,in the third chapter of the article,the author will analyze Yang Shi's attack on the Wang Anshi school in detail,focusing on the important events at the political and academic levels.In chapter four,the author clues out Yang's achievement in systematization and inheritance of the School of Luoyang.It is his breakthrough contribution to this school that made him highly praised by later generations and respected as a master of the School of Luoyang,rather than his criticize over the Guanzhong school and the Wang Anshi School.So this chapter will be studying what had revived the school of Luoyang,his theory of Heart,so as to prove Yang's contribution to rejuvenating and promoting the School of Luoyang.In the final chapter,after study of his criticism on the Schools of Guanzhong and the New School as well his effort to development of the School of Luoyang,the article will conclude with a macroscopical description of Yang Shi.The conclusion of Yang Shi,it shall be here by mentioned,is generated from studies of previous chapters.Above is the overall outline of the article and the author looks forward to nothing but a more comprehensive and fairer understand of Yang Shi of his character as well as studies.
