Clinical Study Of Acupuncture Therapy Combined With Voice Training On Vocal Function In Patients With Early Vocal Cord Polyps

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and voice therapy,and explore the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with voice training to improve the vocal function of early vocal fold polyps.Methods:A collection of 70 early vocal fold polyp patients(rejecting surgery)from the Department of Otolaryngology,Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from March 2019 to December 2020.They were randomly divided into combination group(n=25),acupuncture group(n=2 3)and voice training group(n=22).Both groups were underwent voice hygi ene education.The acupuncture group underwent acupuncture,20 minutes per 2 times/week for 6 weeks;the voice training group underwent voice therapy 40 minutes per 2 times/week for 12 weeks.The combination group underwent acupuncture combined with voi ce therapy,acupuncture 2 0 minutes per 2 times/week for 6 weeks;voice therapy 40 minutes per 2 times/week for 12 weeks.They were evaluated with the GRBAS auditory perception assessment,voice acoustic analysis and voice handi cap index(VHI)for subjective assessment before and after therapy.Voice acoustic anal y sis mainly include:jitter,shimmer,HNR and max imum phonation time(MPT).Results:1.After treatment,the GRBAS scores in the acupuncture group did not change significantly compared with that before treatment(P>0.0 5);the GRBAS scores of combination group and voice training group were significantly improved than before(P<0.05),and the S score was unchanged(P>0.05);Compared between groups after treatment,the combination group and voice training group has improved than acupuncture group in G scores of GRBAS(P<0.05),but there were no difference in combination group an d voice training group.There were no difference in combination group,acupuncture group and voice training group in R,B,A,S scores of GRBAS(P>0.05).2.After treatment,the scores of jitter and shimmer were significantly lower than before treatment(P<0.05),the scores of HNR was significantly higher than before treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of MPT did not change significantly(P>0.05)in acupuncture group;the scores of jitter,shimmer,HNR,MPT has improved than before treatment in combination group and voice training group(P<0.05).Compared between groups after treatment,the scores of jitter,shimmer in combination group were better than acupuncture group and voice training group(P<0.05),while there were no significant difference in the acupuncture group and voice training group(P>0.05);the scores of HNR in combination group and voice training group were better than acupuncture group(P<0.05),while there were no significant difference in combination group and voice training group(P>0.05);the scores of MPT in combination group and voice training group were better than acupuncture group(P<0.05),while there is no significant difference between in combination group and voice training group(P>0.05).3.The scores of VHI has improved in both combination group,acupuncture group and voice training group after treatment(P<0.05);Compared between groups after treatment,the scores of VHI in combinat ion group was better than acupuncture group and voice training group(P<0.05),and voice training group was better than acupuncture group in the scores of VHI(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both acupuncture therapy and voice training can improve the vocal function of patients with early vocal fold polyps.The combination of acupuncture and voice training is better than a single treatment method.
