Purpose:By comparing and observing the effect of thermal moxibustion on upper limb lym phedema after breast cancer surgery,it.can provide reference for the treatment of postoperative complications of breast cancer in traditional Chinese medicine. Methods:Enrolled in Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Third Affiliated Hospital,Rehabilitation Clinic,Breast Clinic. There were a total of 70 cases of postoperative upper limb lymphedema in patients undergoing radical breast cancer surgery, among which 35 cases were included in the treatment group,3 cases were exfoliated due to follow-up.and 2 cases were excluded. The treatment group received thermo moxibustion therapy. In the control group.35 cases were included,2 cases were dropped due to follow-up.and 3 cases were excluded. The control group was treated with circulation-driven therapy, and the participants were all women.Treatment is given twice a week for four weeks.Arm circumference of the affected limb was measured and recorded before and after treatment and 4 weeks after treatment, the degree of conscious swelling of the affected limb was asked, and QLQ-BR23 scores were recorded before and after treatment. The data were collated and the results were analyzed using statistical software to compare the arm circumference(mean, difference),fatigue score and quality of life score of the two groups before and after treatment.SPSS 25 statistical software was used to conduct statistical analysis on all the research data, and P<0.05 indicated that the difference was statistically significant.Results:1.Comparison of QLQ scores?Comparison within the treatment group:When comparing the QLQ scores of patients before and after treatment,it is evident that there was significant improvement in the treatment group(P<0.001).After treatment(and four weeks after treatment),the QLQ scores were not statistically different(P>0.05),suggesting that moxibustion may have the effect of improving the QLQ scores of subjects in the four-week intervention.Nevertheless, after the intervention,it may not-have progress in improving the role of subjects' QLQ scores.?Comparison within the.control group:The QLQ scores of the patients in the group were significantly improved prior to and after the treatment(P Step to improve the QLQ score of the subjects.?Comparison between groups:In regards to the different groups, there was no statistical difference between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05),which was comparable to after treatment, four weeks after treatment, and the difference between the two groups before and after treatment.Overall, the treatment group was better than the control group, where the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001),however,after treatment and four weeks after treatment, there was no statistical difference between the two groups. The difference(P>0.05)indicated and suggested that the intervention effect of the thermal moxibustion was superior to that of the therapeutic instrument used in the control group at the end of the four weeks.Nevertheless,at the end of the follow-up,it was identified that the intervention effect of the thermal moxibustion might not present further advantages compared with that of the therapeutic instrument used in the control group.2.Comparison of limb swelling index:?comparison within the treatment group:The swelling index of the affected limb was significantly improved before and after treatment in the group(P<0.001);after treatment, the swelling index of the affected limb was increased, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001),It is suggested that moxibustion may improve the swelling index of the affected limb in the 4-week intervention, and the swelling index of the affected limb may rise after stopping the intervention.?Comparison within the control group:The swelling index of the affected limb was significantly improved before and after treatment in the group(P<0.001);after treatment, the swelling index of the affected limb was increased, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001),It is suggested that the therapeutic apparatus used in the control group may have the effect of improving the swelling index of the affected limb in the 4-week intervention, and the swelling index of the affected limb may have a rising trend after the intervention is stopped,?Comparison between groups:Since the baseline comparability of the swelling index of the affected limbs in the two groups before treatment is poor, the evaluation of the improvement effect of the two groups of interventions on the swelling index of the affected limbs needs to be further analyzed. To be more specific, the improvement effect of the two groups of interventions can be evaluated by investigating the difference of the swelling index of the affected limbs before and after treatment, after treatment and four weeks after the end of treatment(as the main evidence).Ultimately, the data shows that the difference between the two groups before and after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.001).Nevertheless,there was no significant difference between the two groups after treatment and four weeks after treatment(P>0.05).suggesting that the intervention effect of thermal moxibustion was superior to that of the control group at the end of four weeks, however,it was better at the end of treatment.Lastly.at the end of follow-up,it was recognized that the intervention effect of thermal moxibustion might possibly not be superior to that of the control group. Conclusion:Through the analysis of the research results,it was found that both of the two treatment methods could effectively improve the upper limb lymphedema.Meanwhile, the intervention effect of thermosensitive moxibustion may have an advantage over the intervention effect of the treatment apparatus used in the control group in the 4-week intervention. However, whether the advantage still exists during the follow-up after the treatment needs further evidence. Therefore, thermally sensitive moxibustion may be a suitable treatment for breast cancer related lymphedema.
