As an important part of human resource management,performance management plays a critical role in the development of state-owned corporations.Therefore,studying a set of fair,just,complete and practical performance management system can motivate and attract employees,develop their potential and cultivate positive working attitude,so as to enhance the competitiveness of the enterprise,enhance the overall business ability of the enterprise,and finally realize the common development and growth of both individuals and the enterprise.In this dissertation,the author takes a closer look at the design and execution of a performance appraisal system used by petrol station workers in a sales-orientated enterprise in the oil industry named as N Petroleum Corporation.In the first part of this dissertation,basic concepts and components of performance management were explained,followed by the study of a couple of theories of performance management and design such as performance management system,evaluation points for the excellent performance management system,and some performance management methods.In the second part of this dissertation,with the help of a company-wide questionnaire,the execution and outcome of the current performance management scheme used on petrol station workers were evaluated.While the results from the scheme revealed some significant issues,the author then took an approach to identify the root causes with the special consideration of the significance of the petrol station workers in the N Petroleum Corporation 's strategic plan.At last,a solution was proposed that tries to ease the impact caused by emerging issues in the company's performance management scheme.The author mainly focused on putting together an optimized performance management scheme that can evolve continuously over time which could improve the corporation's workflow efficiency while aligning with the corporation's strategic target.In this solution,with the mindset of following key performance indicators and reaching 100% participation rate within petrol station workers,an effort is put into the identifying of inefficient indicators,then the improvement of qualitative indicators and target models based on the key indicators of all positions in the petrol stations,and the design of the evaluation and appeal process of the performance management in petrol stations.
