The Impact Of Environmental Leadership On Green Innovation Performance Of Manufacturing Enterprises

As the country pays more and more attention to sustainable development,more and more companies realize that devoting themselves to the practice of green innovation is one of the important ways to establish a competitive advantage in the new era.Leaders,as the trader of an enterprise,their leadership style will affect the behavior of employees.Leaders' choice of environmental leadership is considered to be an important factor influencing employees' choice of environmental behaviors.Many scholars have discussed the relationship between environmental leadership and green innovation behavior of employees.However,it is still unclear whether environmental leadership can improve enterprise green innovation performance and the influence mechanism of the former on the latter.Based on the theory of planned behavior and the theory of self-determination,this research incorporates the two variables of environmental commitment and employee's green creativity into the research framework,and constructs a chain mediating model to analyze the impact of environmental leadership on enterprise green innovation performance.Through the investigation of some manufacturing enterprises in Shandong Province,299 valid questionnaires were collected and data analysis was carried out.The research found that:First,environmental leadership has a significant positive impact on the enterprise green innovation performance.The choice of environmental leadership by business leaders has a positive impact on the enterprise green product innovation performance and the enterprise green process innovation performance.Second,environmental commitment play an plays an mediating role in environmental leadership and enterprise green innovation performance.Environmental leadership can positively influence environmental commitment and improve the enterprise green product innovation performance and enterprise green process innovation performance.Third,environmental commitment play an mediating effect between environmental leader and employee's green creativity.Environmental leaders can positively influence environmental commitment and promote employee's green creativity.Fourth,employee green creativity plays a mediating effect between environmental leadership and enterprise green innovation performance.Environmental leadership can enhance the green creativity of employees and thus enhance the enterprise green innovation performance.Fifth,environmental commitment and employees' green creativity play a chain mediating effect between environmental leadership and enterprise green innovation performance.Leaders choose environmental leadership as a leadership style that can positively affect environmental commitments,and positive environmental protection commitments can enhance employees' green creativity,which in turn positively affects the company's green innovation performance.This research theoretically explains the mechanism of environmental leadership on the green innovation performance of manufacturing enterprises,and brings some inspirations in management practices for enterprises in the context of sustainable development in the new era.In the contemporary era of rapid technological change,if manufacturing enterprises want to develop for a long time,leaders should adopt the leadership style of environmental leadership,actively respond to green issues,encourage employees to carry out green innovation,and continue to improve the company's green innovation performance to maintain the core competitiveness of development which is the long-term sustainability of manufacturing enterprises.
