| After the outbreak of the Covid-19,Confucius Institute for Scotland in UK has launched an online Chinese teaching project——Virtual Exchange Teacher programme(VET programme for short),domestic volunteers can give live Chinese teaching to primary and secondary school students in Scotland through online conference software.Combined with the educational background,teaching materials and teaching practice,this paper designed the cultural teaching of VET programme by using the framework of Curriculm for Excellence in Scotland.Firstly,through the analysis of the educational background of VET programme,the paper found that the framework of Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland has some guiding significance for the instructional design of this programme.Secondly,through the content analysis,this paper classified and counted the cultural content in the teaching material,and found that this programme lacks certain contemporary Chinese cultural factors,cultural comparison and civic education;through the interview,the paper investigated the implementation of online classroom cultural activities,and found that there are some problems,such as the failure of traditional classroom management skills,the simplification of activity types and the weakening of teachers’ participation and so on.Finally,aiming at these problems,this paper used the framework of Curriculum for Excellence to design and implement the cultural teaching of VET programme.Teaching practice showed that,this cultural teaching design of VET programme can effectively improve students’ classroom participation,enhance students’ understanding of Chinese language and culture,cultivate students’ cross-cultural awareness and international vision,and improve students’ civic literacy and comprehensive ability.At the same time,the results of this design can also provide some reference for Chinese teaching and research in Scotland. |
