A Research Of Curriculum For Excellence In Scotland

At the turn of 20 century, many countries have initiated to reform the basic education for the 21st century in order to improve the international competitiveness, satisfy the social development, and the curriculum reform is the core of education reform. Curriculum reform of basic education could adjust the personnel training objectives, change the personnel training model and improve the quality of personnel training. The Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland which is known as "Scotland's the most ambitious education reform up to now" also has the similar aspirations.This paper describes the origin, content and structure of Curriculum for Excellence, introduces the implementation details, analyses its advantages and problems, with the hope of deepening the understanding of the curriculum reform, and concluding some inspiration and reflection for our curriculum reform.The article is divided into five parts:The first chapter describes the origin of this study, and introduces the basic conceptions and research situation.The second chapter describes the reasons of Curriculum for Excellence, and provides some background information.The third chapter introduces the main content of the Curriculum for Excellence, and strives to overview the whole picture.The fourth chapter shows the quality assurance system of Curriculum for Excellence - assessment and qualifications system.The fifth Chapter attempts to analyze the advantages and issues according to content and status quo of Curriculum for Excellence, and provides some suggestions for our curriculum reform.
