Application Research Of Peer Support In Community-based Rehabilitation Of People With Mental Disorders

Mental health problems are not only medical problems,but also important public health and social problems affecting economic and social development.With the increasing number of mentally ill people and the rapid development of community-based rehabilitation practice,community-based rehabilitation has become an important part of the rehabilitation phase for mentally ill people.Meanwhile,peer support has gradually developed as a new form of service.Peer support is neither an unequal professional relationship between helpers and beneficiaries,nor is completely equivalent to deprofessional peer support.It is indeed a new form of reciprocal service that fully utilizes peer resources.Constrained by the complexity of mental illness itself and the differences in people’s characteristics,the paper limits the research objects to people with mild mental disorders who are currently in the community-based rehabilitation stage and who can control their will,emotions,and cognition.Based on the understanding of the concept of peer support,the paper uses interviews to understand the multiple dilemmas of people with mental disorders during the rehabilitation stage,such as physical distress,social isolation caused by severe "stigma",the lack of stable jobs and the lack of effective intervention,and explores the three sides of peer support to analyze the necessity and feasibility of introducing peer support services into community rehabilitation.At the same time,it draws on and explores existing community peer support methods.At present,there are two main forms of peer support in China.One is the peer support model based on community agencies,and the other is peer support project.Due to the influence of time,normalization and other factors,the paper focuses on a peer support group to conduct action research,carrying out problem analysis and need assessment for group members.Under the supervision of social workers,the professionally trained peer support worker designs group activities that are suitable for the characteristics of group members based on his unique experience.Help them fully understand the treatment medicine and feelings of medicine use,share and exchange rehabilitation experience,reasonably handle irrational emotions,so that make mentally disabled people who are still in the community rehabilitation stage feel the power of their peers.Through standardized and systematic process evaluation and result evaluation,it is clear that peer support has good rehabilitation effect,and it is very necessary and feasible to intervene in people with mental disorders in the stage of community rehabilitation.Finally,propose some localization paths: Improve the peer support system,such as standardizing the referral mechanism from psychiatric hospitals to community rehabilitation institutions,strengthening the connection between the two,increasing community mental rehabilitation services,providing financial support and so on.Then,bring social workers’ superiority into work and strengthen the main role of peer support workers,aiming to develop peer support services for community rehabilitation with Chinese characteristics,and provide a reference for China’s mental health social work to some extent.
