Research On Social Support For Education Of Children Of Self-Employed Migrant Workers

Migrant workers play a very important role in promoting the economic development of the inflow area,but there is a large gap between migrant workers and local residents in terms of salary,status and welfare,especially the education of migrant workers’ children.In the actual investigation,this paper finds that some selfemployed migrant workers’ families are limited by human capital,policies and regulations,the nature of work and so on,and their children cannot obtain equal educational resources with local residents in daily life and study.Therefore,this paper attempts to analyze the children’s education of self-employed migrant workers’ families from the perspective of social support.Through early contact and snowballing,this paper contacted 10 parents of selfemployed migrant workers.On the basis of early communication,the interview place was selected in the shop where they work and live,and conducted in-depth interviews with 10 respondents.The interview mainly involved the basic living conditions of the respondents in the city and the education of the respondents’ children.At the same time,the author visited the community workers and institutional social workers in the community where the respondents live,tried to analyze the plight of children’s education from the perspective of formal and informal social support,and put forward countermeasures and suggestions in combination with the relevant professional knowledge of social work.Through in-depth interviews,the author found that 10 self-employed migrant workers are faced with large education expenditure,but their children’s actual learning environment,resources and opportunities are poor.Through further interviews,the author found that self-employed migrant workers are affected by the nature of work and social atmosphere,lack of social communication opportunities,and it is difficult to build an informal social support network.At the same time,due to the lack of social policies and social services,the education of children of self-employed migrant workers is difficult to obtain formal social support.In view of this,social workers should start with building formal social support network and informal social support network,and help families build informal social support network by improving family social communication ability and increasing family social communication opportunities.At the same time,communities and social organizations should give full play to their own advantages,use professional resources and professional means to help self-employed migrant workers’ families link resources,carry out active policy advocacy for self-employed migrant workers’ families,further improve the current policies and regulations,and strengthen the formal social support network for selfemployed migrant workers’ families.
