In 2020,the fifth Plenary Session of the 19 th CPC Central Committee put forward the strategic goal of building a strong socialist culture in China,and the realization of this goal cannot be achieved without the overall quality of liberal arts talents.In the two sessions held in March 2022,relevant officials of the Ministry of Education and leaders of universities also emphasized once again that top-notch liberal arts talents are an important force to promote the construction of a socialist cultural power.Liberal arts academic postgraduate students are the main reserve force of this important force because of their long learning life and training objectives.Information literacy is not only the basic requirement of talents in the information age,but also one of the core qualities of innovative talents.However,according to the relevant literature survey,the current situation of information literacy of liberal arts graduates in China is not optimistic.In this context,the study of information literacy of liberal arts academic postgraduates not only meets the needs of national strategy but also meets the needs of reality.Liberal arts at the university of this study "S academic graduate student as the research object,first in the information literacy at home and abroad for reference,the evaluation standard,expert consultation on the basis of establishing the liberal arts academic graduate student information literacy evaluation index system,then according to the index system set up the questionnaire to the situation of information literacy of S university’s master of arts graduate students in the investigation.Through the survey,it is found that there are some deficiencies in the four dimensions of information literacy of liberal arts academic master students in S University: First,in the dimension of information awareness,the consciousness of updating and managing information is weak;Secondly,in terms of information knowledge,the liberal arts academic postgraduate students in S University lack the relevant knowledge of Chinese and foreign databases,and cannot list and evaluate the retrieval results.Furthermore,the deficiency of information ability is mainly reflected in the insufficiency of foreign literature retrieval and acquisition,and the efficient management of information.Finally,in the dimension of information ethics,the academic master students of liberal arts in S University have a poor grasp of knowledge about intellectual property rights and standards of academic misconduct.According to the investigation,the reasons for these problems mainly come from students,tutors and schools.The reasons of students are as follows:1.Lack of understanding of the importance of information literacy;2.Poor level of foreign language;3.Lack of computer expertise.The reasons at the mentor level are as follows:1.Less research projects;2.Less guidance in information literacy.The reasons at the school level are as follows:1.insufficient attention to information literacy;2.unreasonable information literacy curriculum;3.weak teachers and poor quality of information literacy education.Finally,based on the problems and causes,this study proposes the following countermeasures from students,tutors and schools:students should establish awareness of the importance of improving information literacy,increase the investment in information literacy learning,and enhance the selflearning ability of information literacy;Supervisors should constantly improve their information literacy level,guide students to participate in more scientific research activities,and assume the responsibility of postgraduate information literacy education.Schools should pay more attention to information literacy education,develop diversified forms of information literacy education,reasonably set up and arrange information literacy teaching content,strengthen information literacy teachers,hold information literacy competition,and strengthen the training of graduate students’ English and computer skills. |
